2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

Seattle and Jack Z. have signed Hart... :( so much for a hometown discount for missing an entire year that cost the brewers $10 mil.

YES! Over the years he's gotten slower and slower and could never lay off that low and outside pitch, not to mention he's hurt quite often. Thank you Seattle.

Shoulda kept Aoki, sad to see him go, and put Braun at first.

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

If the Brewers give up an young arm like Thornburg or Jungmann for Ike Davis would not be cool! No trading away pitchers for field players!

Doesn't sound like we have to worry about the Brewers giving up young pitching. Come on, how hard can it be to find a first baseman? Anyone can do it! The Brewers proved it last season! :p

Michael Young?

As special assistant Dick Groch told me at the winter meetings, "If you're a first baseman, we're interested."

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

Jeff Suppan officially retired. I would say that means we're not going to see him anymore, but hey, Mark Mulder is making a comeback, so who knows? ;)

Brewers close to signing Mark Reynolds to help fill their first base void and potentially platoon with Francisco (is that a two-headed strikeout monster I see?)

meh.

also, they signed Zach Duke (remember him?) to a minor league deal.

Also added to the first base mix: Lyle Overbay.

I wonder if I still have the "O" sign (with pink flamingos) from the Buckethead Brigade.

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

shocking news, the brewers have agreed to a 4 year, 52 mil deal with Matt Garza...

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

wow. I did not expect them to make a move that big.

only $3 mil more over 4 years than the Twins spent on Ricky Nolasco, who is also a year older than Garza.

Get ready to watch a lot of hitters bunt when he's on the mound...

AJ Bombers coming to Miller Park. This is awesome. Wish more local places would open stands at the ballpark. I always thought Kopps or Leon's would do very well. AJ Bombers will seriously compete with the brisket sandwich for my ballpark food choice.

NOW you may discuss Matt Garza. Details of the contract.

Brewers bring K-Rod back on a 1-year deal
The Milwaukee Brewers signed free agent right-handed reliever Francisco Rodriguez to a one-year contract today. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Doug Melvin.

K-Rod's entrance music better be "Without Me." :D

For the record, I'm not a fan of this signing. Was hoping to get Benoit, but I don't think he was anywhere near the Brewers radar.

It depends which K-Rod they signed. Hopefully it's 2011 K-Rod.

Pitchers and catchers report in 3 days. THREE DAYS. I cannot wait to see pictures of baseball players and sunshine.

Happy Pitchers and Catchers Eve!

Tickets go on sale March 1. I can't decide what to do about the Yankees series. I want to see CC, but I anticipate tickets will be hard to come by for that series, and who knows when/if he will pitch? I'd rather not go to an entire weekend series and then end up missing him (and having 3 days of drunken idiots to deal with).

Considering it's Jeter's last season, I would think you could flip those tickets for a tidy profit if CC isn't going to play that series.

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

I just read all the position by position articles so far, and am pumped for the season. And, dare I say, even slightly hopeful. Maybe it's because today was the Segura article, and not the first base one. ;)
