2013 "I was screwed by the NCAA" thread...

Re: 2013 "I was screwed by the NCAA" thread...

As a follower of a team that was fortunate enough to get a Pool C bid, I actually agree with you. The Pool C bids are a nice second chance opportunity for a few teams (and this year the only chance for the ECAC W), but rarely do they actually lead to a National Championship (Oswego being the only exception that I can think of in recent years).

Wasn't Neumann a Pool C? Or, did they get in with a Pool B bid?

Re: 2013 "I was screwed by the NCAA" thread...

I think that would work really well in theory and I like the idea very much. I can just see even this being an issue if a really good 2nd place team gets overlooked by one of the "suppossed weaker conferences champion getting selected. Say this year Plymouth State getting in over Hobart. And yes I saw both teams play IMO no comparison which is the better team.

Re: 2013 "I was screwed by the NCAA" thread...

With all due respect, I disagree with both of your points. (Altazo's on page three.)

The W has gotten very few bids in the past 10 years, and what bids they have received have had them pitted against one another so often that the conference's PS W% is skewed. The W's OOC PS record is a winning one during that span, IIRC, despite the complete lack of W PS home-games.
Fishman, once again, don't let facts stand in your way. The ECAC-W teams have only played each other three (3) times in the NCAA playoffs the past 10 years. And the mighty ECAC-W has a record of 11 wins and 16 losses, with 6 wins in 2009. In fact, to dispute your OOC PS record claim further, if you subtract the conference matchups, the ECAC-W is just 8 and 13.

Facts, Fishman. And here are the facts:

How many times do I have to say it? Facts have no place in an internet argument, according to Emily Post's rules of internet etiquette.

I thought "If it's on the internet, then it has to be true?"

We never knew which Pool Neumann got, but I'm willing to consider Pool B conferences as a different animal for purposes of this argument. We certainly can say that Oswego is the only Pool C entrant from a Pool A conference in recent memory to take the title. Norwich will be the next one :D

So let me see if I got this right...

If C > A then AC = ECAC??

As I (belatedly) mentioned, I wasn't referring to the past three years, during which time the NCAA has been more generous.

Prior to that, the W was 8-9 OOC in the PS, with three H2H match-ups that are irrelevant to the comparison... That still is much closer than I thought it was, though. (Maybe I was just disgruntled about the sitings back then; who can remember?)

I tend to agree with an earlier post that described the W as strong on-average over the years, but without a truly elite team. Having said that, it's still been the best top-to-bottom conference for a while, IMO, based on what comparative data that's been available.

I tend to agree with an earlier post that described the W as strong on-average over the years, especially with Lebanon Valley College & playing the formidable ECAC Northeast. Having said that, it's still been the smallest top-to-bottom conference for a while hence no AQ, IMO, based on what comparative data that's been available.

Sure we did. You just have to look it up.

In 2009, the Pool B bid went to Hobart.

The Pool C bids went to Superior, Elmira, St. Scholastica, and Neumann.

I don't remember that. Okay, so we now have 2 Pool C champs, but in any case, it is rare.
