2013 "I was screwed by the NCAA" thread...

Re: 2013 "I was screwed by the NCAA" thread...

I feel bad for Eau Claire.

They had an argument for the #1 seed out west. Not only do they not get it, they get a first round game and then have to go to SNC. They can beat SNC. They know it. I know it. SNC knows it. But they could argue they should be right through the quarterfinals.

So the NC$$ trades a 3,000 SRO gate for "500 chair back seats" at Adrian...who said they dont know how to play cards in a smoke filled room out West?

They did the same thing last year (well just the East region) with Plattsburgh and Amherst....

Adrian has a better record, slightly better SOS and much better record against ranked teams. Seems like a no-brainer for the committee.

No problem with Oswego going to Adrian. Oswego no doubt should be on the road somewhere as they are not one of the top 4 overall seeds. I do feel for WEC, I thought they did enough this year to host a QF game, but it is obvious travel restrictions got in the way.

Originally, I thought so, too. But upon first glance, they lose the comparison to SNC as well, although 2 of the factors are razor-thin. They also lose to Norwich and Utica. After seeing that, it's not hard to envision them playing on Wednesday night.

Yep. The NCAA has never based hosting decisions on the potential gate prior to the semifinals, and I have no idea why people started thinking it was somehow a factor.

Re: 2013 "I was screwed by the NCAA" thread...

Babson def got screwed. They beat Norwich twice this year and tied them once, but Norwich ends up with a first round bye, and Babson has to play a first rounder in order to have the right to travel to Norwich to play them!!!
Doesn't make any sense!!

So you really think a team that was 17-6-5 (10-5-3 in conference) "got screwed" being seeded behind a team that was 23-3-1 (16-1-1 in conference)? WADR, that's nutty.

Babson has had a good year and has played great against Norwich and had a great tournament, but given where they were at mid-way through the third period on Friday night I would think they are thankful to just still be playing hockey.

I really think this is one of the fairest brackets/seeding set ups that I have seen in years. The only team that really had a complaint was Hobart, but they played themselves out of it. I've always felt that in general, once you get in the idea is to just keep winning. A trip to Lake Placid is nice, but if your goal is to win the championship all you have to do is keep winning. If you don't you aren't the champs.

Norwich could complain that "to get to Placid we have to play those guys again ... that's not fair ... we shouldn't have get around them until Lake Placid."

I want Babson to win on Weds so we can get the rematch at Krietzberg. Champions win by beating the best teams, not dodging through the field.
