Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

United Airlines offering to fly Air Force for free to Annapolis for the game. Logistics still have to be worked out obviously. Now I won't pretend I'm too well versed in this, but I thought I read that one problem with the shutdown is that some people that want to volunteer their time aren't allowed to because the government doesn't want them requesting back pay once it's running again. So I guess that could be an issue is coaches are classified as civilian.

I understand all these things are "non-essential" but it seems stupid to shut down things that make money, like national parks and football games. If they let this game get played now they'll probably break the Navy attendance record again, which was set only a couple weeks ago.

You don't understand the purpose of any governmental shutdown. It is not to save money, it's to cause maximum pain to the voters so they'll scream bloody murder and then the pols can get their way.

Service academy games are back on. Guess that carrier parked off the East Coast and drones circling DC got the message across.

Part of the decision process was the appearance of it all too...the DOD isn't being funded and schools playing football can look bad even if the football games are privately funded.

Looks like Miami has a better than average chance of going undefeated this year. Their ACC schedule is pretty friendly. That FSU / VT set of games back-to-back is the biggest hurdle.

Northwestern and their staff can eat a dick... Just wasted close to 5 hours of my life trying to get into Gameday, only to be told that Students have "priority" seating and that I could go to the end of the 1200 or so person line had formed behind us after we arrived at about 1:30am... Apparently casual fans of the game are treated like shizzle... No mention of the student priority was made till we made the entrance of the "Gameday Set" at about 6am...

Complete BS... Never going to attempt this again :mad::mad::mad:

Anyone have Longhorn Network on their cable/satellite system?

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Jerry Kill suffers seizure, won't coach the game.

From what I had read, the athletics of all programs are largely funded by donors and in the past this wasn't an issue. From what I recall the issues were an order not to stray from campus and a few people here and there that might be federally funded.

Indiana beats Penn St 44-24. First time Indiana has beaten PSU. Ever.

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Are there any Northwestern fans there?

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

If there are, they're going to be disappointed in a minute or so.

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Between Stanford's uniforms and Washington's helmets this game is not easy to look at.

Not many. Ohio State was favored by 7.5 so with that final play an awful lot of money changed hands.

Big bonus points for the Northwestern band for playing 'Time Warp' from the Rocky Horror Picture Show during a late timeout.

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

I may have underdog-itis but I felt the TX-IowaSt, the OSU-Nw and Stanford-UW games all hinged on referee judgement that just so happened to benefit the bigger dog in the conference. If a conference is a 'business' how do conference refs not have a vested interest in some of their teams going to big bowl games?

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Yeah I don't like our black uniforms; just stick to classic red.

I think both OSUs and ASU (although their helmets yesterday were terrible) pull off the black pretty well, not sure many others do. Baylor managed to hit the terrible combo of a bad black uni and the some hideous helmets as UW yesterday. The Tennessee gray unis were pretty nice though.

With Stanford-UW it hinged on the ball clearly being on the ground.
