Good. I hope they fail. Nothing more worthless than a $200k degree in interpretative basket weaving...

Well, borrowing $$ to get that degree could make it worse.

There might be some symmetry here, the concussion issue and growth of soccer and lacrosse (although both concussion sports too) is going to reduce the number of football players too. Could offer schools a decent way out of the business without antagonizing alums.

Agree 100%. I can't understand the reasoning that people have taking those majors, while accumulating huge dept. Just a huge moneygrab for colleges.

A lot of folks, including college students, don't have great money management and planning skills. Maybe we could mandate they take a Dave Ramsey money managment course or something. And it's not just college students. I know adults, and not a few, who make financial decisions that just don't make a lot of sense if they are taking any sort of long term view.

If people knew things like taking out a huge mortgage to buy their McMansion wasn't sound financially our whole economy would come crashing to a halt.

Back on topic, last week's Sports Illustrated focused on a kid from UMissouri who tweeted that he didn't have enough money to buy the EA Sports version of the even though he is in it. It was accompanied by a look at the recent developments in the O'Bannon case vs the NCAA. I cant post it because I am on my phone but I highly recommend looking it up.

I still don't see online courses being the way... There are quality control issues that'll be tough to get around, however, the tuition cost situations are going to come to a head one way or another. It's untenable and a complete federal take over would destroy these schools in reverse.

I also don't see it as a "everything changes tomorrow" thing. Some things can pair together but it's more likely that the regional schools will get a boost first.

Things would only go the MOOC way is if we had a massive societal collapse making things occur on the cheap as a better option... That or the transition between school bubble and regionalization doesn't occur fast enough.

People undervalue in person contact.

Wanna know why I believe this... There's an Indian university near the Chinese border. For at least 5 years ALL their courses have been available on YouTube including classes in advanced phd level materials.

So, is it the money and accent issue that's stopping your self improvement?

Manziel now being investigated by NCAA for profiting from autographs. Eligibility in serious trouble.

So USC will not be allowed to go to a bowl till after the 2020 season

ESPN reports second autograph broker said he didn't pay Manziel cash for signing, but claims Manziel's buddy later asked for $. So using the Auburn/Cam Newton precedent, he's fine right?

Now that A&M is in the SEC, I believe you're spot on in your analysis.

Yeah, he'll be fine...God help the next non-BCS school that gets caught though.

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Which means USC needs to join the SEC to confuse the NCAA.
