2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

I certainly can, and already have.:(;)

But again, going 13-0 is a huge IF. Such an accomplishment would require a good bit of luck as well as talent. The BT has a number of very good teams capable of winning a game against the Buckeyes. The problem is the league lacks credible candidates for the national title. For that reason, the planets just aren't well aligned this year for OSU. Winning the games won't be easy. But even if we're able to get the job done, we won't get any credit for it nationally.

Both IA & MN got solid results this past weekend. Should be a fine match-up. National title implications? No, but it will be good football nevertheless. Gotta love rivalry games...
It really sets the tone for the rest of the year for both teams.. I like the direction Iowa is headed. Should be some good 'ol fashioned football Saturday.

FWIW, if OSU goes 13-0, I think they're in the ship.

They may very well slip up this weekend. OSU has looked solid, but not immortal..yet.

Alabama cancelled its 2016-2017 series with Michigan State. Hopefully they can fill it by playing The Citadel a second time in the same season.

...FWIW, if OSU goes 13-0, I think they're in the ship.
Well, 13-0 would include a bowl win. The question, naturally, would be which bowl.

What I think you were really driving at was if OSU goes 12-0, does that get the Buckeyes to the two team playoff, aka the National Title Game? Over much of the BCS era I'd say yes. This year I'm far less sure. If we're part of a group of 3 or more unbeaten teams, I'm guessing we're on the outside looking in. Lose any game on the schedule and I believe we're definitely out. That's just my sense of the will of the voters in this particular year. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. We've certainly gotten BCS breaks in the past. If things even out a bit this year, that's just the way it is.

They may very well slip up this weekend. OSU has looked solid, but not immortal... yet.
My sense is that the Buckeyes will bring their 'A' game this weekend. Lots of buzz in the air here in Columbus. Reminds me a bit of Nebraska week last year, and that turned out very well for us. Certainly Wisconsin can win tomorrow. But to do so, I believe they'll have to truly earn it, as opposed to having the Buckeyes "slip up."

You think the Buckeyes would pass on the B1G championship game?

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

More often than not, though, being undefeated in a BCS conference gets you in. I guess the obvious exceptions are 2004 and 2009, though even in 2009 I hesitate to count Cincinnati because it's the Big East. But the point being, they have very much been the exception and not the rule, so it makes more sense to get to 12/13-0 first and not worry about how you looked while doing so. That said, teams do seem to be shying more and more away from OOC games that might threaten undefeated seasons, so perhaps it is more likely this year (and hopefully less so in subsequent years if playoffs put more emphasis on SOS).

This new targeting rule is the dumbest thing to be introduced in quite some time. I have no problem with enforcing the fact that you can't target the opponent's head, etc.

But the fact that even when the player ejection is reversed, the original penalty call still stands? Simply idiotic.

Rats.....Purdue is not on MN's schedule this year.
NIU has opened up a serious can of whoopass on PU.

70 seconds in and Brian Kelly has already changed colors twice.
