Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

tOSU is up 55-0 on Florida A&M.... AT THE HALF :eek::eek:

Classy of Urban to keep running up the score. 76-0 final.

<---- digs the Rutgers win over AR.

This. I was laughing about Rutgers and their impending B1G membership for most of the game, but they get props for that late win. Bielema can console himself with a large pizza and a twelve-pack. :D

Karma's a beetch. :D

And MD dismantled WV - not sure if the BIG powers-to-be are lucky or good? :)

Watching the Stanford-ASU game is reminding me of the Holyfield-Charlie Steiner SportsCenter commercial.

It seems the entire Michigan team does not have a very high football IQ. Nice to see the dumbfounded look on fatarse Hoke's face.

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Not nice to see! But certainly warranted

At least this will mean pasqualoni will remain uconn head coach ;)

Re: 2013 DI BCS Thread: Thorthu Thame ish bacth!

Just tuned into the Michigan - UCONN game: Michigan 14 - UCONN 21 end of the 3rd Qtr.

I'm the jinx, once I saw that score I went digging around for internet radio... ended up settling for UConn student radio... sad to say a good result, Pasqualoni needs to be shown the door

Bielema can console himself with a large pizza and a twelve-pack. :D

Sure looks like he's been crushing dozens of each since he got the Arkansas job. His head is meatier than ever...which is really saying something.

Can't believe Arkansas blew it considering Bielema has always excelled at late-game management. :)

*** Notre Dame is 3-1 vs BCS teams.

FCS teams have a better record against BCS teams than non-BCS FBS teams.

Sigh. It was inevitable that someone would post this, so it's impossible to be upset. But to quickly set the record straight:

  • The Buckeyes ran ZERO passing plays in the second half.
  • The 5th String Running Back (Elliott) ran for 162 Yards.
  • FAMU had Two First Downs and 80 Total Yards for the game.
Bottom line? Holding down the score in this one simply wasn't possible. Well, OK. Coach could have ordered the offense to take a knee on every play in the second half. But if he had, someone else would have been quick to say that wasn't classy either.;)

Oh, and we might as well get one other thing out of the way. Should this game have even been on the schedule? Of course not. And it wouldn't have been, had Vanderbilt of the almighty SEC not reneged on its agreement to come to Columbus. Not that Vandy would have gotten us on ABC, but at least it would have been a BCS opponent...

Sometimes the only thing you can do is empty the benches, get the young guys some game reps. Hell, it's not Meyer's job to stop the Buckeyes from scoring. He can do a few things to slow em down, but heck, he might as well let the bench guys get some reps in.

They also went for it on 4th down twice when already up by 20 in the 1st Quarter, once up by 48 in the 2nd quarter, and once up by 55 in the 3rd quarter...why not kick the FG? Running up the score in the first half is still running up the score.

I've heard debates between whether teams should go for it and just run the ball or kick a FG. Honestly, I've heard "experts" say kicking the FG is worse.

I just hope ohio's joke of a non conference schedule hurts them significantly in the BCS standings.

Clearly there's a debate, but my perception is that the conventional wisdom is that kicking the field goal is worse. It's not just the opinion of a few contrarians.

Yeah, Yeah. And I hope you burned your breakfast this morning.:p

To be serious, I have two reactions to this. First, we've not been the biggest offender on this over the years, having scheduled nonconference series with Texas, USC and others. Future schedules also look more promising.

Second, you're correct that this year's schedule isn't what it should be. OSU got a little unlucky in that we caught Cal -- especially its D unit -- in transition. The slate would have looked a little better with Vandy and a stronger Cal team on it. But mean-spirited "hopes" aside, it's reasonable to imagine that's how the BCS numbers would play out. Even if OSU runs the table -- a big if for anybody -- the Buckeyes could very well be excluded from the two team playoff on the basis of a weak schedule. If two other teams from BCS conferences remain undefeated, we're likely on the outside. If so, so be it. At least we're done with the two team playoff system after this season.

Can you imagine being 25-0 and not playing for a national title over that period?

It's pig week. Gotta take the bacon back home with us to Iowa City again.

I certainly can, and already have.:(;)

But again, going 13-0 is a huge IF. Such an accomplishment would require a good bit of luck as well as talent. The BT has a number of very good teams capable of winning a game against the Buckeyes. The problem is the league lacks credible candidates for the national title. For that reason, the planets just aren't well aligned this year for OSU. Winning the games won't be easy. But even if we're able to get the job done, we won't get any credit for it nationally.

Both IA & MN got solid results this past weekend. Should be a fine match-up. National title implications? No, but it will be good football nevertheless. Gotta love rivalry games...
