Heisenberg just listed Kevin Shier of Toronto Lakeshore of the OJHL as a new recruit. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=144562

A couple more stories on Shier's burning truck adventure during his recruiting trip, including photos of the truck and a short video.. all I can is WOW, pretty amazing. He's already a hero regardless of what he ever does on the ice.

Re: 2013-2014 Union Dutchmen - Can U Three Peat?

It was a clean sweep for Union in December's ECAC Hockey monthly men's honors.

By the way, is anyone else anxiously awaiting next Friday at QU? It has felt like the offseason with nearly a calendar month without a game.

I feel like I'm in withdrawal - we don't know what to do with ourselves on the weekends. BTW, is Coaches' Corner still scheduled for next Wednesday?

According to Union's website, yes. I haven't heard differently.

The Dutchwomen have five home games before the Dutchmen finally return to home ice on January 24. Always one option.

Walking over to the game tonight, I believe it's RIT both nights. I haven't seen them yet this year, they are always fun to watch ,

big improvements since I first started watching them some years back.

Union wins in overtime 2 to 1 . both teams fought hard could of gone either way.

Some more on new 2014 commit Kevin Shier, with some comments from his coach:

I've heard several (both Union and non-Union) commits and coaches say Bennett and staff do more homework than others. They seem to know players better than other staffs, and understand what role can be filled by each recruit. The future looks bright.

It's hard to make comparisons but I do know how much effort the coaches put into recruiting and getting quality students and individuals who are also talented players.

Hot off the press , another feather in the cap of ECAC hockey, Colgate wins Mariucci classic by defeating Ferris State 3 to 0 , RPI plays Univ of Minnesotta for third place. Colgate beats both the No. 1 and 2 teams in the country to win the tournament. Friday's victory over Minnesotta was in a shoot out. When Colgate was in our building I thought they were a very fast and skilled team building a program for their new rink in a year or two.

Whoever made the schedule this year did one hell of a job torturing the fans with such a long break. Just wanted to throw that out there..

To who asked earlier this week - the radio show from the Van Dyck has been moved to every other Tuesday starting this week. The next show is this Tuesday, January 7.

Tuesday's show will feature a ticket giveaway for the men's hockey game against Harvard on Jan 24.

The remaining shows are scheduled for Jan. 21, Feb. 4, Feb. 18, Mar. 4 and Mar. 18.

The latest polls are out and Union is no. 4 in the USCHO and 5 in USA Today. What I am most interested in seeing is when and if we get one or more first place votes. It will take those above stumbling and Union sweeping this weekend if it's going to happen next week. I am concerned about the layoff and heading right into the lions's den in Quinnipiac.

Re: 2013-2014 Union Dutchmen - Can U Three Peat?

We have 13 more (ECAC conference) mountains to climb and we have to stay focussed on each one. Every one is critical. Unlike past years, every ECAC team we face going forward is on an upward trajectory. Moreover, four of these ECAC teams we are going to face are in now in the top 12 in the country !!!! This is what was expected because everyone knew the ECAC was going to be very tough this year. Even so, when has this ever occurred? And all the other ECAC teams we are going to face are extremely dangerous as Colgate demonstrated this weekend. Every ECAC point is going to be a precious commodity and bitterly fought and contested for going forward. Think 60 minutes of fierce hand to hand combat. We need every ECAC point we can pull out of these 13 remaining games, every one, starting Friday. The rest of the 2013/2014 season is going to be a free for all and its going to get very bloody. We also need to stay healthy, focussed on the next opponent and the long term will take care of itself. Remember, in WWII at the battle of Midway, we could have retreated after sinking three Jap Carriers and declared a great victory ... but we wanted that 4th Jap Carrier and stayed in the fight until it was sunk !!! We have 13 more fights coming up, starting friday.

Go Dutchmen !!!

Any quality hd streams for this weekend's games? Or are we at the mercy of the host team's stream?
