2013-2014 D1 Commitments

http://www.leaderpost.com/sports/Regina+Kennedy+Bobyck+Ottawa/6046005/story.html

This young lady has her goals firmly set regarding her hockey future. Maybe we'll need a thread for commitments 3-10 years hence at some point. On the early commitment topic...sometimes they just know. :)

I'm guessing there is a bucketful of youngsters raring to go
Shailyn with 3/4 top ten finishes or Sydney K the overall champ

Re: 2013-2014 D1 Commitments

From East Coast Wizards website

Harvard
Maeve McMahon ................. F ................ Groton/Wizards ................ MA

Have heard she is going for lacrosse, but hopes to also play hockey. Hard to imagine that will happen at Harvard with the depth at forward they have (and the number of recruits they already have for 13-14), but anything is possible. Looks like Harvard must be about ready to move on to 2014-2015 recruiting already ...... :)

Re: 2013-2014 D1 Commitments

Hey, look, I was wrong about Harvard....

From Assabet Valley website

Harvard
Brianna Laing ............... G ..........................Nobles/Assabet ........... Marblehead, MA

So that makes 3 F, 3 D, 1 G already for Harvard on this board (wonder who else is committed out there?). With these kind of numbers this early at a school like Harvard, it is likely that either some of these commits are wishful thinking on the player's part or Harvard is overcommitting intentionally to compensate for potential admission failures....... Anyway, Harvard has largely become a Nobles/Assabet team if you look at the roster and commits. Wonder what it would be like to be a non-Nobles/Assabet player there at this point.... something of an outsider to say the least.

 Only if treated as such by teammates. Which isn't something I would expect.

Seems like only a blink of the eye ago half the team was Minnesota born and bred....,

Wow, I guess NU is getting a headstart on recruiting. I don't remember them landing commits this early before in the past.

Is she a daughter of Pete Scamurra who played on early Washington Capitals teams?

Re: 2013-2014 D1 Commitments

Heather Mottau never played for the US U18's

COLD AS ICE is correct for consistency. Mottau was at the National Festival camp from which the U18 team was selected, but never was selected for the U18 team itself. If we're going to mark the National Festival candidates who didn't make the team as U18, then you need to add Gracen Hirschy and Dani Camarenesi among others.
