Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

A couple of gifts from Ferris State and St. Cloud bumped us up to 4th in the rankings. After they way we played Saturday we should be sending Thank You cards out west.

Hopefully the layoff will help the guys realize they need to stay composed and play a full 60 minutes. Nothing down the stretch is going to be easy and every point will be crucial.

Kind of glad I was busy on Sat night and missed the loss. Saved me all the "blue" language. :D

Per this article in the Denver Post, Landon Smith had a chance to join North Dakota at semester break and turned it down. High character kid
That's awesome! Character like that is hard to find these days. Besides, he's making the right choice! ;)

Rand has to be smilin' big time after reading that. Great talent with character. Winner all the way!

He still look good in a Quinnipiac considering the numbers he is putting up now in WHL,
You really need to get over him... ;) Everything happens for a reason and we're doing just fine without him.

Has everyone seen the NCAA Play of the Week? Our own Mr. Anas got the nod for his in-the-air tap-tap goal Saturday at Merrimack. If nobody beats me to it I'll post a link later when I'm able.

Withdrawal symptoms have officially commenced... :(

In case this had not been posted earlier, an article on Quenneville leaving for the WHL. Very complimentary of Qpac and sounds like he did it for some pretty good reasons, even if I wouldn't completely agree with all of them.
Peter who?

I guess if you take that story at face value it does make sense to some extent. I, however, am not completely buying it. I'm not sure what he means by "I was in a spot where I wasn’t having a lot of fun playing the game." You've played hockey you're whole life and suddenly you're not having fun? On the top line of a top D-I team? Something just doesn't add up for me.

I do wish him well and hope it all works out for him. However, walking out mid-season could have done a lot of damage to the Bobcats. Luckily, we were deep enough talent-wise that it hasn't hurt as bad as some had thought.

Like we had discussed when the news first broke, I think we will see the effect of his absence in the coming years, once the production of the Jones twins, JST, and eventually Peca, are gone. Still, I'm sure Quenneville was viewed as a big piece moving forward.

Granted it looks like we have some real solid classes coming in, especially with the latest Landon Smith signing, so the future is still quite promising.

Go Bobcats

I disagree simply because his departure hasn't hurt us this year like we thought it would. We have more than enough existing talent and new blood coming in to make up for his absence.

Replacing the Jones' and JST is going to be tough regardless, but the staff seems to have covered all the bases with some high-end kids coming in.

So, I repeat... Peter who? ;)

Completely agree with this statement. They expected big contributions from Quenneville in the coming years. It's not easy to get NHL caliber talent every year and when you lose it that quickly it hurts.
