Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

There is still a good amount of uncommitted talent in the BCHL that is in the top 20 in the league in scoring.

Adam Rockwood, 18 years old, Coquitlam Express (4th leading scorer in the league at 8 goals and 46 assists)
Chad Staley, 19 years old, Prince George Spruce Kings (19 goals and 25 assists, tied for 13th in the league in scoring)
Danton Heinen, 18 years old, Surrey Eagles (19 goals and 25 assists, tied for 13th in the league in scoring)
Brendan Taylor, 18 years old, Nanaimo Clippers (15 goals and 27 assist, tied for 18th in the league in scoring)

Good chance one or two of them have poor grades.

Game day at the Bank!

Merrimack comes in for the first game of a home and home. I watched the Warriors against Providence at Fenway and was mildly impressed. While they're at the bottom of the pack in Hockey East, they looked a lot better than 5-win team.

The boys will need to come out and play like last weekend. Do all the little things right and take care of business. No playing down to the competition. Being the last of our non-conference games, this weekend serves as a good tune-up for the stretch run.

Go Q!

I don't know. They have scored only 33 goals in 18 games so far this year. They really can't score that much. However they have a win over Clarkson who seem to be fading a bit in the past couple of weeks as they play better teams. They also tied Providence who seems to also be in a rut and Notre Dame on the road. The goaltender Rasmus Tirronen is having a very good season. He is the key to keeping Merrimack in these games because other than him I am not so sure Merrimack can stay in these games if Quinnipiac is on there game.

My point was we can't afford to play down to them, and we all know what a hot goalie can do.

After an absolutely abysmal start to the season, MC started to show signs of life on the last weekend before the break, taking 3/4 points from BU. Tironnen has established himself as the hot hand, and some roster changes have been made. A win by MC would be unexpected but could be a big moment for the squad this year.

Tirronen was absolutely a stone cold barrier in the 2nd Clarkson game. Made 3 unbelieveable saves early on. Without him I think they lose the 2nd game. So your team better be on upset alert.

I missed a chunk of the first, but I did catch the first five minutes if the second! Then the streamed pooped out for the rest of the period. All was well for the third which was nice. Great to see Sherbinin put one in and BVB is on fire right now. Hope to see a bunch of ya tomorrow. Geaux Bobcats.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Nice win tonight. The first period was brutal. Probably one of the worst of the season. Rand probably chewed them out in between the 1st and 2nd period because after that they played really well. Onto tomorrow night and I will be making the 40 minute drive to North Andover.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Wow... that's all I can say. After an abysmal first, they came back with a vengeance. Showed absolutely no mercy and took it straight to the Warriors. Really nice to see them bounce back like that. Should make for a really interesting game tomorrow as I'm sure Merrimack won't roll over for us.

The eaglemobile will be heading to North Andover for the rematch.

Gameday today up in North Andover against Merrimack. Need to have a better start than last night though I will take the finish they had to the game and the result as well tonight. Heading up there with 3 other Quinnipiac alums. Hope to see a good contingent of QU fans tonight.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

I agree... a better start is needed tonight on the road. Merrimack gets the home advantage of last change and I'm sure they'll use that to their advantage. Our speed and skill will need to overcome that. The Bobcats need to come out with a purpose.

Go Q!

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Merrimack has had a tough time scoring this season, but coming from a BC fan, that is one tough barn to scrape out a W.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Oh to be a fly on the wall in the QU room between the 1st & 2nd. Whatever Rand said it worked.
The 2nd period had the Bobcats looking like world beaters.

I thought they had the video streaming settled down the last 2 games but last night was bad.

I got the impression from his post-game that he really didn't yell at them but rather benched a couple of guys to start the 2nd. I know he rarely does that but it did seem to work. I didn't notice exactly who was missing on the ice early on.

It was an amazing display... if only they could do that for 60 minutes every game...

I think they're still experiencing growing pains with the new system. Hopefully they get it all worked out because it seem like a really nice production otherwise.

Why do you think that is? Do they get good fan support? Or is it something else?

In the prime of my Maine career the games at Merrimack were a joke. Always more Maine fans and the Black Bears almost always won. I'm years past that has been much different. The crowds for MC have been better but nothing overwhelming. They have just been a better team the last few years, especially with Cannatta and Da Costa. Really low ceiling so be prepared for that.

I'll be sure to duck when I walk in! ;)

Anyone planning on pre-gaming up there? My wife and I heading up early in order to grab something to eat before the game.

Yes, when it works it is quite good. 720P feed if you have the bandwidth.

Few little things I don't like with it being the scoreboard feed. Like the Dunkin' Last minute of play.
Why does it always come when something good is happening on the ice? :D But I guess beggers
can't be choosers.
