Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

2015-16 recruit Chase Priskie has left Selects Academy 18U and is now playing for the Fargo Force in the USHL. Should get some good experience playing in the premier tier 1 junior league in the United States over the next year and half.
Are you sure he left SA U18? I know he played 3 games for Fargo recently as an Affiliate Player. Many players do this during there current Team's break for the Holidays. BTW, I saw 2 Selects games last month @ Union & RPI and Priskie is much bigger than what Heisenberg has him listed as. 6' 185 is what Selects lists him as and I would agree with that. Here's the USHL Transaction page.... http://www.ushl.com/?item_id=2575

Looks like you are probably right and it was just a short stint.

Anyone heading up to the Harvard game tomorrow night other than myself?

I hadn't planned on it and then after Friday's game decided I might. Unfortunately, we've had a death in the family and I won't be making the trip.

Besides, my record at Bright is the greatest so they're probably better off if I stay home.

It's nice when a hockey game can being people together! I just had to share in the spirit of togetherness with a recent study from a Qunnipiac Professor of Economics that many Mainers can appreciate:

"A study by Mark Gius, an economist at Quinnipiac University, shows states with restrictive concealed weapons laws had higher gun-related murder rates, and that assault weapons bans had no real impact on murder rates at the state level.

“These results suggest that restrictive concealed weapons laws may cause an increase in gun-related murders at the state level,” Gius wrote in his summary."

Nice to see that Professor Guis supports the right to arm bears!

Stretching the OT limits there.

Ken

I'd rather stay in OT than have a shootout, wouldn't you? But, hope for the best and prepare for the worst!

I'm pretty sure Ken was referring "Off Topic" and not "overtime" when he said that...

Thanks for clarifying, Mark. I thought he meant that I didn't respond soon enough after the game. I guess in Canada they are not as big on the First Amendment either, but luckily our moderators were ok with what was said.

Good luck the rest of the season!

Sorry to hear about your loss, Mark. I too will not be attending. I have to stay at work till 7.

Thanks Brian. That work thing has a tendency to get in the way from time to time. Welcome to the real world! ;)

I'll be there. QU Boston alumni are hosting their usual Harvard game event, so there should be a pretty good QU contingent tomorrow night.

Rep the Q for the rest of us poor slobs who won't be able to make it! ;)

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Gameday for Quinnipiac tonight at Harvard. Big 2 points out there for us. Really need a great effort tonight against the Crimson who are coming off a 7-4 win over BU. They played us real tough last time out at the Bank. I expect the same again tonight and for Girard to be in net for them. A win tonight carries some nice momentum into the big weekend series with Union/RPI.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

A critical 2 points tonight for sure. Harvard seems to always give us fits at Bright so we'll need to be on our game. There were signs of improvement against Maine so hopefully that trend will continue tonight.

Go Q!

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

The game is listed on the Ivy League Digital Network schedule for tonight, the feeds they provide have been descent so far. The cost for a one day Harvard team pass is an expensive $9.95 for the game. http://www.ivyleaguedigitalnetwork.com/ivyleague/schedule

Goodness. $10 to watch a game streamed over the internet?

When are these schools going to learn the only people they're getting here are friends and family. That's insane. You're basically lowering the visibility of your program. Look at the QU YouTube feeds, they've been getting over 200 people watching at times. It's not a lot, but it's got to be many more than are watching these PPV feeds. You're losing more than you're winning.

And lets be honest. These Ivy schools are not bleeding for money either. Its a joke that they are even charging to begin with for the Ivy League Network.

It's not quite a bad deal at $49 for all the Ivy Schools home sporting events for three months. I bought it to watch some of the other Ivies games when Yale is not playing, there is also an archive of all events broadcasted for on demand viewing. I agree that the single day price is exorbitant.

I still really don't think it helps these schools to charge. I'll tell you something -- a few years ago when QU charged, I didn't go to games because I never watched them on the internet and just didn't have as much interest to make the hour drive each way. Last season, with free streaming, I watched almost every home game, and attended two or three games during the season. Free streams mean more interest, which will get you higher gates at games. It absolutely will. You're helping yourself in the short-term, perhaps, but killing yourself in the long-term by charging to watch home games.

Definitely left a point on the ice tonight. Allowing Harvard to tie it late in the 3rd with a scrum in front... why aren't the D-men clearing out those bodies? Even worse, we outplayed Harvard in the 3rd and should have been able to put it away.

Oh well... it is what it is. Back home for a big weekend against the Dutchmen and Engineers.

Give credit to Girard. He kept Harvard in the game. He made a huge save on Peca in the 3rd period that would have made it 3-1.
