Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Great job Q! Total domination and 5 goals in the 3rd! Anas is filthy (in case you hadn't heard), Danny Federico got his first goal, and Connor Jones got his 100th career point!

Gartieg only faced 12 shots... I still think he'll be better when he sees more rubber. His first goal was soft; didn't see the 2nd one. Was never really tested. The 'gate announcers said they only had 1 shot attempt on 8 PP opportunities, a testament to the stifling Q defense.

A good showing and a nice tuneup for the Big Red tomorrow.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Very good road win. 7 goals and they are still missing Peter Quenneville due to injury (Brooks Robinson played again). Peca still has not scored yet but he will come around. Once Quenneville is healthy would like to keep Anas with the Jones twins as they are really clicking right now. Peca playing with Quenneville will be good. Defense was very good as well. Special teams was very good again with 2 power play goals and a shorty and they killed off all 8 of the Colgate power plays. Defensive play looks as good as last year just with some younger players that are probably more talented than what we lost. All in all a good win and would love a sweep of the weekend with a win tomorrow night at Cornell.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Great win tonight and a big game tomorrow at Cornell. The Freshman look great so far, especially Anas, and are mixing well with the upperclassmen. Only concern for me so far is as much as their PK and D has been great they seem to take a TON of penalties on certain nights.

Random question for anyone here who might know but any word on possible TV coverage for any games this year? Yale/QU at the Bank is next weekend and I haven't heard anything about anyone picking it up. It seems like the past 4 years its at least been on regional networks like NESN or CSNNE and last year of course nationally by NBC Sports.

Welcome to the jungle! ;)

I have not seen or heard of any TV coverage for this season. If there was, it should have been announced by now. I guess there's always a chance someone could pick up a game but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

and HD too! Great quality, the announcers are not homers, and they're very well prepared too.

Announcers being well-prepared should not be a feather in their cap. But, that's just me. (And yes, I'm a snob when it comes to that stuff).

They were fair and mostly unbiased, plus they got all the names right and knew many stats. The only thing that bugged me was their use of "Q-Cats" a little too often.

We know! :p ;)

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

I've got a few friends on the insides of some networks, and there will be some Quinnipiac hockey on TV this season. I'm a little surprised the games haven't yet been announced, but I'd guess they'll be out soon. I was told that the NBC Sports Network wasn't too kind in what it was demanding for coverage (in terms of money) so I don't think we'll have any games there. NESN and SNY will be involved, I think.

Gotta like the offense and special teams so far this season. Like I posted before, this is all happening without Matthew Peca putting up any numbers yet. If (when) he starts getting involved, look out. The game at Cornell will be a great early-season test -- there must still be some bad blood between those teams after the absurd series they had in last year's quarterfinals.

Larson: You'd probably have to play 570 Brad Paisley songs to be able to afford that Yale package. We need to get a preferred alumni ticket presale next year. (Attn: Fred and others.)

November's gonna be a lot of fun at the Bank.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Don't want to get too ahead of myself here but this team has a lot of upside for the long run. Big one tonight as we all know Iles is going to show up like he does every game against us.
I don't mean to compare too much to last year but at this point in the season compared to this point last season, this year's team has been better.
The defense hasn't skipped much of a beat and the offense if far better. The scary thing for the other teams in the country is this team has so much youth instead of last year having so many veterans. This team will only get better as they are so young, Peca hasn't gotten hot and Quennvilles been hurt. Garteig will keep improving and this team has no ceiling at this point. As long as they stay focused on the game at hand every week, they will continue their success. Where that takes us....that's the exciting part.
Looking forward to a hard fought battle tonight. Go Bobcats!

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Tonight will probably be our first real test. Cornell is scoring bunches on the PP so we'll need to stay out of the box, and you know the Big Red will be looking to avenge that semi-final series loss back in March. Staying focused is key.

Go Q!

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Sounds like Thx thinks he is a kind of a big deal or something...

While I am equally excited about last night and the way this team has been playing thus far, they have to stop falling behind early. Sure all this comebacks are fine and dandy, but at some point they have to go and get a lead from the get-go, hold it, and win games outright. Might sound greedy, but I'm tired of the team trailing every game after five minutes in.

Also, as QU2010 pointed out, they are taking way too many penalties. Granted the kill has been phenomenal both last year and so far this year, you can't keep playing down a man as many times as they have.

Very excited for this game tonight. I'm assuming that there will be no Keven Bui uniforms on hand at Lynah ;)

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

4-point weekend! Very good effort tonight against a feisty Cornell squad. Gartieg gets shutout #1 and he looked really good tonight. Peca finally bagged his first and it looks like St. Denis has found his groove, getting another goal tonight.

Another night spending a lot of time in the box but the kill was perfect yet again. Defense was solid down the stretch, limiting a ton of Cornell chances.

A great road weekend and it sets the table for 2 huge games next weekend at the Bank!

That's Mr. Thx to you. I'm no deli worker.

How 'bout those Bobcats? Man, special teams have been absurdly good so far this season. Two more power-play goals against Cornell and killed all six penalties (which, agreed, they're taking too many right now). And Peca finally found the net! It's pretty crazy to think about how good this offense has been with Peca scoring no goals and four assists on the season. When he comes around, look out.

Jacked up for next weekend! Hopefully with Brown coming first in the Yale weekend for a change, these guys won't have a letdown against the school that spells all of its chants like Schvatz's niece.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Another great weekend. They're a third of the way to breaking last year's unbeaten record!!! Great to see them head into Lynah and take that many penalties and still come away with a win. Huge weekend coming up. If they lose or tie Brown again I am gonna lose my mind. Don't know if I'll make Saturday ... but if not I plan on getting a projector and playing it either on one of the walls in the house or on the side of the house if the weather is good. BLOCK PARTY!!! It is going to be online, right?

I'll have you know that such American greats like Chuck Norris, George Washington, Vince Lombardi, and Tom Hanks have all, at one point, either worked in, or have been to, a deli. I scoff at you, Mr. Much.

So, um, if anyone has an idea to get me a ticket to Saturday's game, I know one recent alum that would be pretty darn grateful.

Go Bobcats

I am thinking of splurging and going the stubhub route.

Last I checked, cheapest seats available were going for $75. Sorry, but as a recent alum who went to pretty much every home game, and many road games, over the last four years for free, a part of me just refuses to spend that much.

I'm still pretty upset that the university and the athletics department sold the game out through presale, without even allowing the public an opportunity to get tickets. I understand the demand, and maybe some of the season ticket holders here can chime into the process, but how could there be a big old goose egg of available tickets to the public? That just doesn't make sense to me.

Perk of being a season-ticket holder. You have to keep your return customers happy so they'll keep coming back.

Don't like it? Buy season tickets.

I mean, let's be clear. These are the defending national runners-up, playing in a building that fits -- at most -- 4300 people. It's an awfully small building for a college hockey team of the stature Quinnipiac has become. That's not a bad thing, but there just aren't enough tickets to go around for everyone. Perhaps tickets to the Yale game would be easier to come by if the team wasn't as good, but, personally I'm not hoping for that to happen any time soon.
