Connor Jones takes #1 Star
And Kellen not far behind. The Twins just keep getting better.

Good to see St. Dennis producing. He does everything else so well so it's great some are going in.
I knew Garteig was going to be a star. Hartzell good? That remains to be seen but I wouldn't be surprised.

Looks as if Quenneville is leaving the team. Devon Toews just tweeted, "Hard saying goodbye to a great roommate and a great friend. Goodluck in Brandon @Triple_P_Pete" Brandon Wheat Kings are in the WHL. Dissapointing if true.

Yup that would be a huge loss to the team. His brother John Quenneville is playing for the Brandon Wheat Kings. I expected big things for him this year.

Current way of selling Yale tix isn't really working either if these loyal fans are buying up tickets in order to flip them on StubHub...

Sour grapes though. If anyone has a pair, I can give them a happy home.

Yup. That's exactly how I bought my tickets which happened to come today. Face value of the tickets are 16 and the person marked them up 55 dollars on each ticket.

That's too bad. The kid started the first 5 games as the LW to the twins. Then he left the lineup entirely two weeks ago. What happened? Was he injured? Going from the top line to a healthy scratch seems kind of unusual.

Eagle said he had a boot on his foot so he was injured because there is no way he would have been a healthy scratch to play Brooks Robinson.

Yep... last home weekend he had some sort of boot/soft cast on his foot. He seemed to be walking fine so I'm not sure what it could be. While a big loss long term, I'm not sure we'll suffer much over the short term. There's still a ton of talent on that bench. Best of luck to Peter as he pursues other options.

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Pretty telling quote on Quenneville's departure by Pecknold.

"We wish Peter all the best as he moves on,” Quinnipiac coach Rand Pecknold said in a statement. “Peter wants to focus only on hockey and at Quinnipiac University, our student-athletes are committed to excellence in both hockey and academics. We were surprised by his decision to leave."

I think this is a pretty huge loss. This was a top 6 player who was going to be counted on to score goals and put points on the board. Its difficult when you lose someone with NHL caliber talent. I think one of things that ****es me off is he left after 9 games and its leaves the program hanging without a scholarship player for the year. If he wanted to play juniors then why not make that decision in the summer where then maybe Rand could get a kid on short notice to fill his spot.

I'm thinking one of 2 things here... first, it sounds like he wasn't ready for/didn't want the academic side of things. Second, maybe he thought it would be tough to stay a top-6 forward with the other talent on the team.

Either way, the team just needs to move forward and not worry about it. We'll be fine.

The decision was 100% he didn't want to go to class. I think with his time out from being injured and that he couldnt play but still had to go to class he decided he never wanted to go to class again. I'd recommend everyone listening to USCHO Live as they had Rand on tonight. He dropped a couple tidbits of info about it, one being the Blue Jackets were against him leaving, which is very interesting. Rand also didn't shut the door on picking up a kid mid year. Heard about this kid, Landon Smith who plays for Salmon Arm in the BCHL. He decommitted from Denver after the coaching change and decided to stay put while he reopened his recruitment so I dont see why not put out some feelers to some guys that have shown interest in college hockey like Smith. He is currently leading the BCHL in points (30) through 20 games.

Look this team loses alittle depth, but Lemire and Brooks will battle it out to be on the 4th line. The real loss is in the next 3 years when theres no Jones' and JST and then the following year with no Peca. Im sure theyll bring guys in to fill the holes and I know we have a great recruiting class for next year.

In Quenneville's defense for coming, he probably thought that he could handle it and I guess he couldn't or at the very least didn't want to. We've been great without him and I don't expect anything different moving forward.

As a life decision, I hope this doesn't come to bite him in the *****, but I would always hope kids take the opportunity to go to school in case hockey doesn't work out.

For the task at hand, I like the team's acknowledgement of the fact the championship rematch is this weekend but no focus will be put on it until Saturday morning and I expect the Brown game to be closer than the Yale game.

Last year's mantra: one period, one shift, one game!

.

There's some question about whether or not a coach can use the scholarship of a departed player to bring in another for the next semester. For example, Northeastern lost Cam Darcy and Joe Manno early last season, yet they could not use those funds to accelerate or recruit someone for the post Christmas portion of the schedule. Perhaps? the coach can assign parts of the scholarship to existing players on partials - at least for the next semester. If he can do that, at least some good will come of Quenneville's leaving.:)
