Luckily, that was announced before last night's game. While he wasn't bad last night, 3 goals on 13 shots isn't very good. I'm sure he'll rebound from it.

Agreed the 2nd goal was not his fault. Bad turnover in trying to clear the zone let to the shot for the redirect goal and the 3rd goal was also a redirect.

Game day in Worcester. Anyone else planning on being there? I'm hoping to head up, grab some food, and then take in the game.

Holy Cross is another Atlantic Hockey "thorn". The last time I went to their rink I witnessed (at the time) the worst Bobcat game I ever saw... a 1-1 tie with absolutely no effort on the part of the Bobcats. It was like they felt they were supposed to win and therefore didn't need to play the game. Hopefully this team doesn't make the same mistake.

I expect the Crusaders will play hard both today and tomorrow so we've got to be ready. Gartieg will need to be on his game, the D needs to play well in front of him, and the offense needs to find the back of the net early and often. It's time to start converting on all those chances.

Go Q!

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Well... it was a nice comeback victory, but one that should have been put away much earlier. Like Bentley on Tuesday, HC skated with us even thought they were outclassed most of the night. They did a much better job finishing their chances than we did. Plus, we hit 3 posts (Anas rang the bell twice). But they hung in there and never gave up. Once we took the lead it was almost like HC folded their tent.

They also recovered nicely from Connor Clifton's GM. I didn't think it was a bad hit as the HC player came in with his head down and it looked like Clifton hit him square in the chest. Obviously the refs felt differently. Killing off the 5 should have given us momentum but we had trouble finding the net. Once we did it looked like their goalie got a little rattled and wasn't as composed as he was during the first half of the game.

At the end of the night it was a win on the road so I'll take it. Tomorrow could be a barn burner...

Game day at the Bank! A reported sellout for parent's weekend should make for a good crowd. Unfortunately, that usually means the students get scattered around instead of massing in the student section, and they tend to be better behaved in front of mom and dad.

Holy Cross should be loaded for bear after last night. Things got a bit chippy right at the end of the game so I wonder if that will carry over. They were outplayed for most of the game even though they staked a 2-0 lead and showed they could skate with us. The Bobcats need to come out hard and fast... show no mercy. They can't afford to play down to a weaker opponent. It's a critical game against an inferior (winless) opponent before opening league play next weekend.

Go Q!

I'll be making the trip down 2 hours today to the bank. Looking forward to a packed house.

So, Sam Anas, ehh? Wow, what a contribution early in the season.

Larson knows what I'm talking about.

That kid is filthy! One of, if not the best Bobcat on the ice right now.

A much better effort today but still a struggle to score. The HC goalie stood on his head and if not for him, it would have easily been 8 (or more) to 0. Apparently he's the only Crusader that can play hockey.

Another good weekend... let's just hope they're ready for Lynah.

Peter Quenneville must be hurt as he didn't play last night with his spot taken by Matt Lemire and today by Brooks Robinson.

Though Rand may wanted to get Lemire a start close to his home in Worcester and Robinson a start on Parents weekend.

Couple thoughts after the weekend: It's clear Garteig settles into games and gets better as it goes on, tough week for him (obviously not all his fault) but 3 wins are 3 wins and that's all that matters. Student section was lackluster to say the least, from what I could tell not many students (some sitting with parents and 2 and a half student sections sold to the public.) One more thought, I didn't catch the replay but it looked to me that Kellen scored the second goal from my vantage point. Did it trickle in before he started poking? Big weekend up in New York. Cornell is always a good one especially at Lynah and Colgate should not be taken easily.

He was walking around wearing a "boot". Hopefully it's nothing serious and he'll be back quickly. Although, as good as he's been, I thought Anas playing with the Jones' was an awesome line combo.

He needs to see more rubber. I think he'll be just fine once he settles down.

It's always that way on parents weekend as most do tend to sit with their families. Overall, I thought the crowd was very good yesterday.

Always a tough road trip but should be a good one and a big test for the boys.

Did he get hurt during the Bentley game?

If not for BigAl's emergence around these parts, this would be like the Greater Section 113 personal discourse. We'll get busier as the year rolls on, I'm sure.

These guys are scoring a lot of timely goals and the freshmen have been better than we were even hoping. This Sam Anas kid flew under most of our radars and is great no matter which line he's on. And just think about it: Matthew Peca hasn't even scored a goal yet.

I can't wait for a November full of home hockey. Hopefully I'll be there for all four Saturday night games. Section 112, right Schvatz?

Right you are, Thx. Not sure which games I'll be at in November yet. As most of us probably were, I was shut out of the opportunity to get Yale tickets before they went on sale. Rest assured, I'm working on ways to get tickets.

In other news, I'm content with the #7 ranking. Very excited for this weekend. They were able to get through some trap games this past week, even fighting through adversity when need be, which is quite promising. It's important now for the team to establish themselves, early, as a top ECAC team, like they did last year. I want four points.

Go Bobcats

There's a whole bunch of upside to this team. Hopefully they get some of it going this weekend.

The polls are meaningless but it's still nice to see the recognition this early.

This weekend is huge for us because it will set the tone for the rest of the season. Colgate is struggling early but will eventually turn it around (after Friday is fine with me). Cornell is, well, Cornell, and Lynah is as tough a place to play as anywhere. It's also another road trip where the team can "bond" without some of the normal day-to-day distractions. A sweep would be awesome, but I'd be happy with a split as long as the games are well played.

Agreed that polls are meaningless, but a higher number certainly works as a catalyst for more student enthusiasm.

As for this weekend, I am setting higher expectations for this team. They need to prove early on that last year was not a flash in the pan. The Lowell sweep helped, but I'm more concerned with establishing a presence in the conference. I'm well aware that Cornell is Cornell and Lynah is Lynah, but I think this program has passed the point where we should expect lossess based on premeditated excuses.

Set the tone for conference play early on. Like I said earlier, I want four points. Anything less than three from the weekend will be a disappointment IMO.

Go Bobcats
