Kind of an insensitive, offensive remark, even for you.

Yes it was, and I apologize. My frustration got the better of me, not that that constitutes an excuse.

I have worked with folks who have Down's for many years. And -while it's always dangerous to generalize- I have yet to meet one person so "afflicted" who was not a warm, genuine and delightful human being... It's amazing how good we can be when we have no sense of ego.

Again, I made a thoughtless remark out of exasperation, and my sincere regrets are extended to all of you who have had the privilege to know and love someone who was born with Down's.

SUNY Plattsburgh has been ranked No. 1 in the 2013-14 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's ice hockey preseason poll after receiving seven first place votes and 63 total votes from the conference coaches.

Plattsburgh finished the 2012-13 season No. 2 in the conference, 13-2-1 and 19-7-1 overall. The Cardinals last won the SUNYAC Championship in 2011-12 and have won four of the last six conference titles and 21 overall. In 2011-12 they made their fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament.

With 54 points and two first place votes, defending SUNYAC Champion Oswego State ranked second in the preseason poll. Last year, the Lakers won the regular season title and ended 14-2 in the conference and 25-5 overall. Oswego finished the season as the National Runner-up, falling 5-3 to UW-Eau in the 2012 NCAA Championship game which marked their fourth-straight Frozen Four appearance.

SUNYAC ice hockey conference games begin tomorrow, November 1. The six-team SUNYAC tournament will start February 26 on campuses with the top-two teams receiving a first-round bye. The SUNYAC semifinals will be played March 1 and the championship game is set for March 8 on the campus of the higher seed.

Utica Voted Favorite to Win ECAC Men's West Hockey Regular Season Crown

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - A year removed from a trip to the 2013 NCAA Division III Frozen Four, the Utica College Pioneers head into the 2013-2014 season as the favorite to win the ECAC Men's West. Utica received first-place votes from five of the six league head coaches, edging out Manhattanville College by four points in the preseason poll. Reigning ECAC Men's West Tournament Champion Neumann University joined Hobart College in collecting 22 out of a possible 36 points to finish in a tie for third. Elmira College and Nazareth College we picked to finish in fifth and sixth place, respectively.

The 2013-2014 season begins Friday with all six ECAC Men's West Hockey teams in action. Neumann travels to Elmira for a 7pm start against the Soaring Eagles and Nazareth will host Utica, also a 7pm puckdrop.
