Hartley should've gotten the same + 1. He started the whole mess.
If Torts doesn't try to attack the lockerroom he probably doesn't get anything.

Agree on that, but Hartley put his goons out there first. The Flames have gone full thug lately.

Torts isn't getting suspended because he matched with his goon line...he's getting suspended for crossing a line and going to the Flames locker room. Had he not done that...they both MAY get a fine and that would be it.Agree on that, but Hartley put his goons out there first. The Flames have gone full thug lately.
Injuries keep mounting for Detroit...

Jimmy Howard is out with the poops? That sucks for him.
Did that really go on the air?
Nope. In hockey if you send out your fourth line you are saying somethi g wthout actually saying it.if torts started a skill line and the flames went after them, then yes, hartley would look like a chump. there's no rule on what line you are/are not allowed to start. typical torts just bat**** crazy. that being said, i love having him as a coach in this league. great entertainment.

sure, hartley was sending a message...that's his right. if torts didn't want to give in to hartley, he could have sent out a different line. instead, he chose to pour gasoline on the fire. that's also his right. it's torts' conduct afterwards that was typical torts but entirely unnecessary.

...anyone who watched the (Rochester) Amerks in 1995-96 surely just smiled and said, "Pfft, we've seen this before."
"That was a normal weekend for us," former Amerks winger Scott Metcalfe said, laughing about the chaos between the Flames and Canucks and the rage of his former Rochester coach.
and unless there's something i don't know about the recent history between the flames and canucks/hartley and torts...there's no way the goons would have attacked the sedins for example.
So why didn't Tortorella defuse the situation against the Canucks by putting out a skill line? Why exacerbate the matter by choosing to deploy your set of nuclear weapons against the Hartley starters? Is someone really going to jump the Sedin twins?
"Is someone going to jump Phil Kessel," Nichol countered. "John Scott did (in the Sabres-Maple Leafs preseason game)."
From the article Steve just posted.
Torts said it afterwards, he's not going to take the chance, not with Hartley behind the bench.
