From Sports Business Daily. I don't subscribe, so I can't get the rest, but the lead says enough...

Parlez-vous francais??

Chicago ownership claims they're losing money the last few years too. Better move them as well just to be safe.

Canucks seem to be in a surly mood vs the Kings. Dude just took a major and a minor.

7 minute pp for Kings.

It's amazing the idiot accounting these guys try to pass off in the public to make people think that they're poor.
The amazing part is how much of the public believes it.

As for Chicago, the Wirtz family made it a "loss leader" so he could finance it with his liquor business to lessen the taxes from the massive profits. Also, the Blackhawks "rent" the buulding they play in from themselves (The United Center is co-owned by the Wirtz family and Jerry Reinsdorf, owner of the Bulls and Sox)

Even the Chicago Wolves owner uses the Wolves as a write-off to lessen his taxes.

The high school games for Hockey Day Minnesota were held in Elk River, Minnesota today, and former Elk River Elk Nate Prosser scores the OT winner against Dallas. Fun to see the rest of the team to mug him.

Apparently it was silly season in the opening minute of Canucks - Flames.

Then Torts pulls a nutty in the hallway after the 1st period.

Must be the full moon.

First -- Howard heads one into his own net and then he and Quick have words and Detroit ties the game with LA off the netting, off Quick and in....then this in Vancouver.

Just another night in the NHL!

BTW, here's Bob McKenzie's take on Torts.

Re: 2013-14 NHL Season - With a Wing and a Fehr

A former LSSU Laker smashed a 40 year old NHL record: fastest fight to start your NHL career. Kellan Lain, just two seconds into his first ever NHL shift. The record was 12 seconds, set in 1963.

Saw the Torts post game presser. He knew Hartley was up to something when Hartley submitted the lineup showing Westgarth starting, and taking the faceoff (Westgarth is a winger). Torts knew he could not put his skill players into a position to get hurt, and matched that goon lineup with his own. He said that he felt awful about placing Kellan in that position on his first NHL shift, but knew Lain could hold his own.

Just saw on Sports Center that Lain's folks flew from Ontario to see their kid play 2 seconds in his first NHL tilt.

Excellent NHL tilt in Chicago this afternoon. I'd love to see this match up again in June.

Torts was darned if he did and darned if he didn't. I don't blame him for starting his tough guys. Did he need to confront the Flames during the intermission? No. However, Hartley was pretty gutless if you ask me hiding behind his team.
