Loui Erikkson has a concussion and is out indefinitely.

10 may be too light this was a deliberate come 1/2 way across the rink to deliver a blow to hurt, not to check.

Actually, I think the time has come to start going after the coaches and GMs. That doesn't require any collective bargaining and might make GMs less likely to have guys like that on the roster and coaches less likely to play them (often with an implied instructions on what they're expected to do).

I'm not too proud to take that goal.

Shaw with a high stick though. May not be a goal.

Backstrom's been great so far.

It just seems like the Hawks are coming in with targets on their backs.... Seems like all of the teams from the East have stepped up their games against the Hawks, and it's showing in the results... We just have to up our game and answer the call that is being made...

Pretty lackluster effort tonight. Human nature being what it is, I get it. You can't convince professionals to convince themselves that this is life or death after going through Detroit and Boston 4 months ago and the effort that that took.

Just glad I didn't pay money to be there tonight.

Don't get me wrong, the Wild are playing well, but this isn't the Hawks at even 80%, let alone 100%.


Backstrom's been awfully good and Crawford looks high.

Crawford read the third goal incorrectly. Thought the pass was going to Niederreiter instead of Pominville.

Yes and no.... I would much rather see this "off night" happen against an opponent from the East than a divisional foe... That's why I'm "meh" about the effort tonight...

The 4th goal was such a great pass/look.

Wild deserve the win tonight.

I just think it's hard to convince them that this game in October matters.

I'm still worn out from that Boston series and I'm just a fan.

That's a lot for the Islanders to give up if they can't lock up Vanek IMO.

Agree with this. To build on it just a little: A 48 game schedule after 8 months off is one thing; the normal 82 game regular season is quite another.

Over the course of 48 games, going "wire-to-wire" is doable -- as the Hawks proved so brilliantly last year. Extremely difficult, but doable. But 82 games, then potentially 4 rounds of playoffs? All after a short summer? It's inevitably a marathon. A certain amount of pacing goes with the territory.

Buffalo did a video tribute to Ruff at the first TV timeout. Instant standing ovation. Ruff supposedly smiled, but I have not seen picture evidence of that.

Wild wearing the whites at home tonight. I really wish the NHL would go back to this...

Me too. Used to be that every team that came in had a different color... now they're all white. Boring.

Simple thing, but it bugs me.


Side note - would be a real shame (for hopeful Wild fans) if Vanek signed a long term deal with the Isles.

Fingers crossed. :p
