2013-14 NHL Season - With a Wing and a Fehr

It looked **** scary. Parros was in a scrum and the other guy slips and pulls him down. The Leaf popped right up and started calling for the medics.

Colton Orr. Same sort of thing happened to him a few years ago. And son of a gun, it was from a fight with George Parros.

Well this banner ceremony is a little indulgent.

Plus the music is making me feel like I'm watching the credits for Ocarina of Time. Except this feels a lot longer.

Really liked the video....then it went downhill in a hurry.

Too many suits. Even I got antsy.

The 2010 one was better.

That said, even the worst banner ceremony - which this wasn't - is a beautiful thing. ;):)

It really struck me tonight how different the intensity was from the last time I watched a (real) Hawks game. Tonight felt like an exhibition compared to those games (wars) against Boston - and Detroit for that matter.

The playoffs are more intense than a regular season game? No way!!

It's just more apparent than normal for me coz it feels like the Finals just ended last week and those games are still etched on my brain. Can't believe hockey is back already.

One thing I really like about the ceremonies is how the winning teams basically relinquish the Cup after a summer of celebration. It's almost like the closing ceremony of the Olympics and the flame being extinguished when they place it on the table in the middle of the ice.

When the season starts, the Cup goes back to the being no one's and the campaign starts anew. Cool bit of tradition and ceremony there.

The Cup - no better thing in pro sports.

The end of tonight's game was fairly intense with the 5x3. Too bad the Caps weren't bold enough to pull their keeper with 3.5 minutes left. Haven't seen a 6x3 since the 2004 FF Title Game.

And of course I agree about the Cup.

They're making fun of this on the Score right now with sound clips on a regular basis.

Eddie Olczyk...

"V.P. of mental skills..."

:D

Edit: You're in a pretty sweet place when you can spend a radio show making fun of your local team's banner raising ceremony. Loving it!

Apparently I need to tune in to more Avs games. Not for the Avs, but for Patrick Roy having meltdowns!

In his defense, it was pretty **** classless for the Ducks to go for MacKinnon's knee, in the way it was described in the article I read. But they're the Ducks, so its expected.

Yep, I have no problem with some Roy rage there - we knew it was going to happen, and he's pretty justified to unleash himself in that situation with the Sucks acting like sore losers. Though it sounds like Uncle Gary will be having a discussion with him about anger management now (no fine expected).

And he bonds the team together. The coach is standing up for him! If they had a band, they'd be standing up for him! If I was down there, I'd be standing up to him!

Fitting Bruce Boudreau (an extra) was the opposing coach.

The "Little Girl" (Marc Crawford), on Twitter this morning :D:

"What is it about being behind the Colorado Avalanche bench that makes coaches occasionally lose their mind?"

Either Patty Roy has freaky r-word strength or someone didn't tighten that partition down.
