There are a few things that I'd take issue with in your post. I'll start with this statement. The more frequent concensus on this site is the Obama did fine and I have little doubt that he did so in most peoples' eyes. What about Clinton speeech and Obama's speech? The speeches were 'not an either' or...they were a 'yes and'. Obama was butressed by Clinton as he was on a different night, not outshone. This was exemplified by Clinton saying that neither he nor no president could have repaired better than Obama the damage done in 2008. If anyone was outshone it was Romney.
The problem is that Romney didn't need to get outshone by anyone. He had the single worst convention since measurement began thirty years ago:
Yet Clinton did not complain about an obstructionist Congress; instead he accomplished several very significant milestones instead. Watching Bill Clinton, you could see Obama shrink in stature by the moment.
