There are a few things that I'd take issue with in your post. I'll start with this statement. The more frequent concensus on this site is the Obama did fine and I have little doubt that he did so in most peoples' eyes. What about Clinton speeech and Obama's speech? The speeches were 'not an either' or...they were a 'yes and'. Obama was butressed by Clinton as he was on a different night, not outshone. This was exemplified by Clinton saying that neither he nor no president could have repaired better than Obama the damage done in 2008. If anyone was outshone it was Romney.

The problem is that Romney didn't need to get outshone by anyone. He had the single worst convention since measurement began thirty years ago:

That's because its not polling within the margin of error in reality. What's happening is polling outfits are tweaking the "likely voter" model to show a close race. However, I'm sure both the Mittens and the Obama camp have their own polling, and its showing more promising opportunities elsewhere.

Consider this, the idiot chattering class almost always put North Carolina in Romney's expected total, while calling Wisconsin and even Michigan "toss up" states. Curious then why Romney is advertising in North Carolina and not Michigan or Wisconsin.....unless the pundits are total morons....

That's not how polling works. In order to have meaningful trending a given poll has to keep the same LV methodology throughout. For example, the reason Rasmussen is criticized is not that they "tweak" their LV model, but that it is weighted wrong (and applied too early).

Media outlets do have a vested interest in keeping the race tight. Pollsters, OTOH, have a vested interest in predicting correctly. What we see for free is only the tip of the pollster iceberg -- they make their money doing customized polling, and they don't move that product unless they are on the money.

He's projecting. Fact is folks are worried and subconsciously hope that claiming Romney is ahead will eventually make it a reality.

So was Harry Reid stating Romney hadn't paid taxes in 10 years. Its part of today culture called over the top.

Why is it that Romney is so ignored that makes it so his thread can't stay on the front page for a day? Well anyways. Mitt seems to think its bad policy for across the board spending cuts:

He also backtracked on pre-existing conditions and now says he would keep the "good parts" of ObamaCare.

Even when he flip-flops he flip-flops.

no no. It's called "evolving." ;) Or was that actaully Obama? A Republican might get into trouble with that word.

so he keeps the good parts (whatever they are) and tosses the bad. It was a bad law with good intentions. Unlike the last time, take your time, build a coalition, then pass it with most of both houses feeling good.

The 198x tax reform did that. I think they can do it again.
