I would say that your comprehension is off then. You're reading something into it that isn't there. Maybe you really, REALLY want that something to be there, but it's not.

That said, it not sitting well with you personally is far different than implying that the media not flipping out about it is evidence of bias. Pretty big leap there.

MinnFan just emerged from his bunker after three months thinking he'd see Mittens with a 20 point lead by now. Cut him some slack while he re-adjusts to reality. ;)

I'm guessing that there are probably a pretty large number of people in every election who vote for their party's candidate even though they personally think the other guy would do a better job. If I'm a life-long Republican who thinks Romney is a putz, why would I bother to vote for Obama at this point, since it's pretty clear he's going to win anyway? Better to send the message to remind Obama that there are still a lot of people out here with conservative values so that he doesn't go around claiming "MANDATE!" My vote carries no danger of getting Romney elected, so the putz won't get a sniff of the Oval Office anyway.

Shouldn't you also be sending a message to your own party to put up a better candidate? There are useful things that can be accomplished with third party votes even when the third party is only going to get a few percentage points of the popular vote.

Looks like Romney made a substantial tactical error by saying that he wouldn't reappoint Bernanke to the Federal Reserve Board. Now Bernanke is out to save his job by continuing this absusrd monetary policy. Some people are worried about the inflation potential down the road; however the low interest rate policy is doing tremendous damage right now because people who have saved money all their lives hoping to live off interest income are not getting any interest!

Where is Arthur Burns Jr when we need him?

Correct.

The all-whiteness of the Republican party.

Never let facts interfere with prejudice, eh?

Bobby Jindal, Susannah Martinez, Nikki Haley, Marco Rubio, Artur Davis, Condoleeza Rice, Colin Powell.....

Minority candidates actually seem to poll better when they run as Republicans because they run on their merits as a candidate; their race / ethnicity / gender don't matter. For the Democrats, all you see is the race; they win their protected district and rarely go much further than that.

meanwhile, the party of Fluke, Warren, Clinton, Frank, Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy is so racially diverse? Man you have weird tinted lenses on your eyeglasses.

Not to mention... didn't Breckenridge run as a Democrat?

Guess they should've diversified their portfolio?

Don't you think raising interest rates now would just make things worse, since it would make businesses and individuals less likely to borrow?

Obviously that's how the supply/demand works, and if you raise it up too high, yes. At this point, obviously businesses and individuals want to borrow, but nobody wants to provide the capital to lend because there's no potential to make any money from that usage. The Laffer parabola can also be applied to bonds, as there's a maximization point. In 2005, we had the FFR around 5%, and people were willing to lend. Bonds were REALLY big in the late 70's and early 80's because you saw double digit rates.

Today, companies are making stock offerings to gain capital, because they are paying healthy returns there (in many cases above the inflation rate), and so people are more willing to invest.

Your first sentence is, without a doubt, correct. A diversified portfolio is a great way to hedge the risk you run in making money, even on dividends and bond payments.

You do realize there's nothing preventing them from attempting to lend money at higher rates, right? Presuming your position is correct, we'd merely see non-government loans being offered at a higher spread from U.S. bonds.

Since that hasn't happened, I think you need to rework your model.

If I can get money for 1% and lend it out at 4%, I'm doing OK. The flip side, though, is I want my money to be paid back. There is too much uncertainty in the economy right now to make lending a sure thing (Solyndra, 38 Studios, etc.).

The task for the person who takes the oath on 1/20/13 (1/21/13???) will be to restore optimism in the economy.

Good luck!

That's not what he said, though. He said the absolute rates were too low to encourage lending. There's nothing preventing people from offering money at higher rates (other than the borrowers not wanting to pay the higher interest).

No, just too lazy to get one.

The worst part was when asked about what he wears to bed and he responded with, "As little as possible."

That is to say the speakers at the RNC.

But the audience was a whiter shade of pale.

What's so bad about this? Jersey Shore is an adult entertainment program, Mitt Romney is an adult the last time I checked, and he probably thinks the character is funny. Once again, the literary left cannot put a disconnect between fact and fiction.

So RMoney likes Jersey Shore and his hick running mate listns to Rage Against the Machine because he's too stupid to understand the band's message. These are prime picks for the leaders of the free world.

About the only way Obama loses is if this turns into a Carter turning point. I think its more likely a passing moment...but this isn't over yet.
