2012 Northeast Regional: Boston College, Air Force, Maine and Minnesota Duluth

Re: 2012 Northeast Regional: Boston College, Air Force, Maine and Minnesota Duluth

That's the first time I've ever seen anyone describe Kreider as "border line dirty"...

Me either. I guess just making stuff up is fine these days.

The only time I've seen him get extremely p i s s e d off at another player was at Joey Diamond but what do I know

For me, that isn't the case. It can't last forever. I've been following North Dakota hockey since 1981. UND had BC's number up until 2001. UND had Michigan's number until last year's Frozen Four. They knocked Michigan out of the tournament on a number of occasions in the last 10-12 years. Things change. This year's team would not have had the expectations that some of those other teams had, so who knows. My attitude is that I want to keep giving it a try until we can turn it around against BC. It's a good run by BC, but it's hockey. Eventually the puck will bounce the right way, a goaltender will get got, and things will change.

Of course, this year's overachieving UND team is going to have their hands full with a solid Western Michigan club.

I agree with you, the only thing i would question is calling UND overachieving though you would know more than i would certainly, but from where I sit UND is expected to be where they are this year, every year. I was not the least bit surprised at their run to finish the regular season............kinda like BC fans saying BC overachieved this year, as many of us, including me think especially considering the losses off last year's team. You probably view that the same way as i view UND...........

Diamond will be easy to spot. Just look for the UMD player writhing on the ground in agony after being hit from behind/boarded/charged from center ice/slewfooted/slashed or the like and Diamond will be the one headed to the box.

Despite the claims of Maine fans that Dimaond is simply "an agitator" or "a kid plays with an edge", in reality he's just a dirty scumbag player who enjoys taking iiberties with the well being of those he plays against.
That being said, Diamond is one helluva hockey player and I love watching the kid play.

My favorite from last weekend... Milan makes a save and Diamond takes a whack at the glove just before the whistle. The usual pushing/shoving match ensues, settles down, and then Diamond skates his way via the back door to Milan's crease and sputters a few words (2 minutes: unsportsmanlike conduct). The horror!!!

Never saw a Brian Gionta or Nathan Gerbe do anything like that! LOL. :D :p
Got any hockey players on your team? :p

KIA in the house...now it's a thread. How long before "City of little Cambodia" is deleted?

Re: 2012 Northeast Regional: Boston College, Air Force, Maine and Minnesota Duluth

Shouldn't Cambodia be Lowell West or perhaps Spinster City?

Re: 2012 Northeast Regional: Boston College, Air Force, Maine and Minnesota Duluth

And? Is this the right thread???

Brought back a memory when people were posting about Maine being 8-0 in NCAA regional play under Tim. Terrific game, stayed with me. Sorry if it's off topic.:o

This team was a bit short on talent, have something like 10 freshmen, and then lost a lot to injury. They haven't been able to run four full lines for awhile, and that's after converting two defensemen to forward. Hakstol has done a terrific job this year, but it's masking a pretty average talent level. They have a lot of grit though.

They may not lose a lot this offseason and should add Grimaldi and a good recruiting class (although I'm not holding my breath for Seth Jones), so I'm expecting bigger things from next year's team.

Kreider plays with an edge LOL good one.

Only Hockey East players with 40 points and 100 PIMs in a season I could find were Brian Boyle, Peter Ferraro and Joey. Select company.

Really? watch him off the puck / after the whistle, he is always willing to throw an extra shot in there. 35 penalties 70 minutes- seems like a fair amount to me. Actually would be second on Maine to....yup you guessed it Joey D...

Re: 2012 Northeast Regional: Boston College, Air Force, Maine and Minnesota Duluth

You know in the WCHA that kind of stuff results in a brawl most of the time. just sayin..

Re: 2012 Northeast Regional: Boston College, Air Force, Maine and Minnesota Duluth

He doesn't look like he has much "edge" to me. When I think of guys who play on or near the edge he's about dead last among the elites.

Quite the difference in opinion here. MainePuck, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but you really are the only person I've ever seen call Kreider "borderline dirty". And trust me, people have gotten on him for his penalties (all minors)...but I can't say they draw the reaction/ire of opponents and fans like Diamond does.

Chris Peters does an excellent job breaking down "the bracket of death"

And here I thought the West regional was the bracket of death...

Go Air Force

Re: 2012 Northeast Regional: Boston College, Air Force, Maine and Minnesota Duluth

Interesting fact for this regional is that every team has a Hobey top 10 on it. The Bridgeport regional has 3 teams with one and Green Bay has only one. That so called regional of death out in St. Paul has none.

I'd say frustrated, kind of like Gus was as he draws alot of attention.

when i looked at the brackets, I thought the same and still do despite what the "experts" say.........
