2012 NFL Season

Re: 2012 NFL Season

Ah, I didn't see that Schwartz threw the flag....

They still should review though, IMHO. A penalty is fine, but they should still try to get the call right.

Re: 2012 NFL Season

That is a bizarre rule anyway. Anytime a coach throws the red flag aren't they trying to benefit from whatever the call or non-call?

Just because a coach throws the flag at an incorrect time, why would that nullify the review of a score if they already review all TDs?

I'm guessing the intent of the rule is to prevent a coach from throwing the challenge flag and holding a 30 second conference with the ref in place of a timeout... Not really applicable in this instance, but that would be my guess for the reasoning behind having the rule....

Well, apparently, you can not benefit after a penalty against you.

But then agian, the QB just threw the ball away withing the tackle box, and didn't get called.

Yeah, I would have been fine with them giving the Texans another 10 yards after the play, but to not at all review the play is just asisine.

Think the crowd is ready to go hang a ref.

Re: 2012 NFL Season

After the weird non-call and the fan reaction, it's good to see the Lions are keeping their heads in the game and moving the ball!

J-E-T-S SUCK SUCK SUCK!

Wow. Talk about derping the derp outta playing football.

And yet even more derp came after this comment, ha ha...

The Jets need to play Tebow.... Not just at QB, but like everywhere... Tebow will be an improvement over this joke of a team...

Oh- now I hear what happend- the coach threw the red flag, which was a penalty- and you can't review after that kind of penalty. If the Lions lose by less than a TD, then you CAN 100% blame the coach- it was his fault.

It is an odd rule. After this came up last week in one of the games (I forgot which one... maybe one of the games that went to OT?), my friends and I were thinking that its only a matter of time before someone got screwed into conceding a bad TD or giving up a turnover because of this.

We joked about the idea that (applying the idea to yesterday's scenario) the Texans could throw a red flag to prevent any challenge on that touchdown-that-shouldn't-have-been, but we wondered if the Lions would be able to decline the penalty in that scenario.

This kinda sums up the Jets' season:
