2012 NFL Season: 15 Yard Penalty For Playing Football (c)

Re: 2012 NFL Season: 15 Yard Penalty For Playing Football (c)

Ronde Barber will retire tomorrow. Start the 5 year clock, he should be a first ballot HOF'er.

Buddy Nix steps down as Bills GM. Wish he could take the owner with him.

I don't care if you think this looks nice (instead of looking like that weird tank thing the Jawas traveled in). I'm astonished that the public is being asked to pay for the bulk of a freaking $1 Billion stadium. What a gigantic ****ing waste.
Most of the responses have been very positive around here. We'll see if that trend continues locally. I like the roof design and windows that can open, but I'm not so wild about "ship's prow" design.

ETA: As for the giant waste of money, I agree. I won't be there, and I refuse to purchase any Vikings licensed goods. I'm very much against public money going for stadiums.

Well, all the glass and angles go with the rest of the buildings downtown (which I love), but that one profile does look like the Jawas' thingy.

I wonder if all the natural light will wreak havoc on the television cameras.

Also hope that snow cannot accumulate up there although I'm sure people smarter than me have already thought of that.

They thought about it with the metrodome too, and how did that turn out? :p

On the stadium, we're already past the point of having to pay for it, that is already decided. It sucks, but whatever. The really dumb part is that the idiot politicians actually thought that electronic pull-tabs would pay for a stadium, and then, when they came up something like 95% short in the first year, their next solution is electronic bingo. Morons. Should have gone with the Racino or BlockE Casino.

The design of the stadium doesn't bother me. It needed to be enclosed, because they need to be able to get final 4s, super bowls, huge concerts in the winter, etc. So the stadium isn't used only 10-12 times each year. I figured it would like idioticly stupid, and this isn't as bad as I figured it would look.

I posted this in the video games thread but figure it might be of interest to football fans in this thread.

Amazon-exclusive Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition includes free year of NFL Sunday Ticket

Electronic Arts bucked the naming trend of its Madden NFL series for 2013, calling this year's title Madden NFL 25 to mark the franchise's 25th anniversary, and the company is further celebrating the milestone with a special edition of the game that is exclusive to Amazon.

The Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition, which will be available for $99.99 at Amazon on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, includes a copy of the game as well as exclusive content for Madden Ultimate Team, the series' popular digital trading card mode. Anniversary Edition buyers will receive 17 special Ultimate Team packs of cards, one for every week of the 2013 NFL season, with each pack containing two rare players, four silver players and four bronze players.

But the real draw of the Anniversary Edition for football fans comes in its special offers for DirecTV's NFL Sunday Ticket service, which allows subscribers to watch every out-of-market NFL game on Sundays during the season.

DirecTV non-subscribers can sign up with a promo code for $10 off each month of service for their first year, as well as a free full-season subscription to NFL Sunday Ticket Max. As the higher of the two tiers of Sunday Ticket, Max usually costs $299.95 for the five-month NFL season; Max also enables access through the NFL Sunday Ticket app on PlayStation 3.

YOWZA!

EA has really been on a customer pleasing tear lately. They're dropping the online pass program as well. Either all the bad PR finally made its presence felt in their bottom line...or they're planning something more sinister. I'd hope it's the former.

Re: 2012 NFL Season: 15 Yard Penalty For Playing Football (c)

Doesn't seem to do much for those of us who don't have and can't get DirecTV, unless I can get the Max version on the PS3 without subscribing to DirecTV.

From what I've read, the PS3 version is specifically for those who can't get DirecTV. The other question is, what about those who could but just don't want to?

(I have no plans to get a PS3 or DirecTV or any of this, but I looked it up because I'm curious if it's actually as good as it sounds.)
