All fans need to take a deep breath and relax. We all know that every team will be placed in every region and teams will be in and out on and off the bubble. the next four weeks should be fun and good luck to everyone. Go Merrimack!

No kidding. Locations won't be close to settled heading into conference championship weekend.

Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

It would be an interesting matchup that is for sure.

FWIW, the voting for the projected tournament was done by the same group of 8 that voted for the midseason All-American team, and the midseason awards.

Here was my ballot:

#1 Seeds: Ohio State, Boston College, Merrimack, Minnesota Duluth
#2 Seeds: Colorado College, Western Michigan, Union, Notre Dame
#3 Seeds: Minnesota, Boston University, Cornell, Michigan State
#4 Seeds: Denver, Atlantic Hockey Champion, UMass Lowell, Colgate

Yep, you're an idiot. Merrimack with a #1 seed? michigan state, UMass Lowell and Colgate in the tournament? No Michigan or Ferris State?

And don't say that you were just using your honest opinion and justify it by saying that you didn't put North Dakota in that bracket. Face it, you're just bitter that you lost to Michigan in the National Semi's last year. For all we know, you were the guy who flipped-off Scooter after he scored the nail-in-the-coffin goal of your season...

Let me make sure I get this. You're upset about his vote in a mind-numbingly meaningless poll? Really?

Who said they were upset? It just took him longer than the rest of us to figure out FS23 was an idiot.

I think posting the video to the Sioux fan giving the one finger salute to the Michigan player confirmed that he was upset.

It's more amusing that you're calling someone else an idiot.

Lowell in the tournament? You mean the team sitting in third in the PWR? Five spots ahead of Michigan? Ok, just checking.

You really don't know what the hell you're talking about, do you?

It's not like Ferris State would p!s$ away a tournament appearance after appearing so high in the pairwise *cough* 2010 *cough* or Michigan State would come from way out of the top 15 to make the field *cough* 2006 *cough*

Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

You all realize that he quoted my post/ballot from December 26th right?

Hint: My ballot from this last week was posted within the last week...just a little research tip for you all :p:D:D

So noted.

However, I fail to see how this new information makes him less of an idiot.

It doesn't. I just wanted people to realize that my quote was completely taken out of context.

Here was my ballot for this week's forecast: (post #141)
#1 seeds: Duluth, Michigan, BU, Notre Dame
#2 seeds: Minnesota, Lowell, BC, Ohio State
#3 seeds: Merrimack, Union, Denver, Miami
#4 seeds: Colorado College, Ferris State, Maine, RIT

I don't think he'd be too upset about it now...

But of course, I'm an idiot...:p:D:D

Typo. You had Lowell as a #2 seed. Fixed it for you.

Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

Assuming Air Force and Duluth hang on to win:

1 Minn-Duluth (WC) 29 0.5617
2 Boston Univ (HE) 28 0.5645
3 Mass-Lowell (HE) 27 0.5604
4 Ferris State (CC) 26 0.5549
5 Boston Coll (HE) 24 0.5570
6 Michigan (CC) 23 0.5545
7 Minnesota (WC) 23 0.5529
8 Maine (HE) 21 0.5506
9 Merrimack (HE) 20 0.5492
10 Union (EC) 19 0.5375
11 Notre Dame (CC) 19 0.5488
12 Northern Mich (CC) 18 0.5449
13 Ohio State (CC) 18 0.5437
14 CO College (WC) 17 0.5374
15 North Dakota (WC) 16 0.5387
---
16 Denver U (WC) 15 0.5319
17 Miami (CC) 13 0.5367

Without switches:
Code:
[B]Bridgeport	Worcester	St. Paul	Green Bay[/B]
Lowell BU Minn-Duluth	Ferris St
Michigan	Maine Minnesota	Boston College
Notre Dame	Merrimack	Union Northern Mich
CO College	North Dakota	AHA Champ	Ohio State

Both Hockey East and the CCHA place five teams in the tournament, so switches aren't mandatory, but still desirable.

Code:
[B]Bridgeport	Worcester	St. Paul	Green Bay[/B]
Lowell BU Minn-Duluth	Ferris St
Michigan	Maine Minnesota	Boston College
Merrimack	Notre Dame	Union Northern Mich
Ohio State	North Dakota	AHA Champ	CO College

The TUC line:
Code:
Wisconsin	0.5040
St Cloud	0.5037
Bemidji State	0.5034
---
New Hampshire	0.4996
Niagara 0.4986
RIT 0.4969
Michigan Tech	0.4967
Providence	0.4960
Dartmouth	0.4960

Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

Not that I doubt you, Priceless. But, right now, with only the UMD/AA game still in play, Michigan's RPI sits at .5596. I fail to see how it could drop all the way to .5545 where you have it, following the conclusion of the UMD/AA game.

Can you help me with that?

Thanks

In fact, now that the game is finished, College Hockey News has:
1-UMD
2-BC
3-UML
4t-Mich
4t-FSU
6t-BC
6t-Minn
8-Maine
9-NoDame
10-Merrimack
11t-NoMich
11t-OSU
11t-Union
14t-NoDak
14t-CC

And, I don't know to do that scroll code you do, so I will just leave it like this:

Put 7-Minn with 1-UMD, and 8-Maine with 2-BU.
Band 3 is all CCHA except Merrimack, so Merrimack has to face 5-FSU. And, you get:

1-UMD
7-Minn
11-NoMich
16-AHA Champ

2-BU
8-Maine
9-NoDame
15-ColColl

3-UML
6-BC
12-OSU
14-NoDak

4-Mich
5-FSU
10-Merrimack
13-Union

Or, something like that.

Also, Priceless, this is just a guess, but I see the RPI's for all the CCHA teams are a little off on your list. Is it possible that you entered that UMD defeated Alaska(Fairbanks) rather than UAA?

Re: 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bracketology

Wow! You all are putting lots of energy into something a LONG way off. Lot's of twists and turns left in the race. Also I wish you would be nicer to my idiot friend and fellow CO resident 23! Peace out you predicting predators. ;)

Grumble. When you said Michigan's RPI was off I knew what had happened...the games from last October still aren't registering. Two wins by Lake State @ UAH and Michigan over Niagara. I had added them in but the script didn't take it. :(

With them properly included:

Code:
[B]Bridgeport	Worcester	St. Paul Green Bay[/B]
Lowell BU Minn-Duluth Michigan
Boston Coll	Maine Minnesota Ferris St
Ohio State	Northern Mich	Notre Dame Merrimack
North Dakota	CO Coll AHA Champ Union

The pairwise still has many twists and turns, but they are also pretty accurate, even this far out. In mid-January the pairwise are 80% on picking the field and 31% on picking the final place. After the Beanpot concludes and non-conference games are mostly finalized, it jumps to 42% accuracy.
