To me, it seems that Diaco will take the job post NC game, and that Alvarez believes he's capable of getting the team through the next five weeks; or Barry will realize how much he missed it, and coach 2-3 more years until a successor he sees worthy steps in.

As surprised as I was that Bielema left, I'd be 101 times more surprised if Alvarez took over the job beyond this Rose Bowl.

Word is that the Boise State coach was either in town last night or will be here early next week.

We'll be getting a new coach.

I loved the first comment in the Channel3000.com story yesterday (can't find it now) about Bret Bielema leaving: 'We'll never forget you, Brent!'

I now think Te'o will win the award tomorrow.

He's won a lot of awards already which makes me think various groups are buying into the senior, came back to play another year instead of taking the money, turned the team around, genuine nice guy story while Johnny Misdemeanor hasn't even been sweeping the QB awards.

Long story short, my mother's parents retired to Fayetteville (they lived in the Panama Canal Zone until then, where my mother grew up before coming to MN for college) and we used to visit over Thanksgiving. I went to my first ARK game in 1974 and got to meet Lou Holtz when he was there a few years later (an enounter in which my older brother accidentally knocked him over in a hallway in the football complex). Funny twist is my aunt (father's side) moved to Baton Rouge after getting married and I have been to several LSU games as well. Unfortunately most of them have passed and my years of going down for the Golden Boot game have probably passed. :(

It also appears that he isn't a Maine fan :p
