2012-2013 North Dakota Hockey: Season Thread

Re: 2012-2013 North Dakota Hockey: Season Thread

Considering there aren't many Niagara fans that participate on USCHO, why bother creating a thread that'd be pretty much UND fans talking to...UND fans when there is already a thread for that? Of course, I could see narcissistic Gopher fans doing just that. ;)

Well, the world would deserve such a thread and it would be our job to give it to them! :D

Haha, touché.

Niagara fans do have their own message board though. They are even aware that UND's goaltending is a weakness. Here's to hoping Gothberg knows how to stop a beach ball..

No game thread? Not enough interest in "the most followed hockey team in North America" or just think it's such a walk-over against the Purple Eagles that why bother?

We never need a game thread with all the discussion Gopher fans give us on their threads.

Re: 2012-2013 North Dakota Hockey: Season Thread

Does Niagara have fans on this board?

We do have a few but mostly just post on Atlantic Hockey threads here. Tried to get one going last year but it never developed much. Did rattle a few opposing CHA fans a few years back when advising them about BC's juggernaut and getting the last laugh which turned out to be quite true that year(2010). As you can tell my first team is BC. Here's hoping that some of my BC luck is applied to my other team Niagara. Sorry but i don't know how to sprinkle that dust online.;)

Giancarlo Iuorio is probably viewing film of both goaltenders at this moment. 21 goals on 74 shots so they better be ready. Don't worry if you contain him there are a half dozen others who score at better than 10% as well. Too bad he missed a good chunk of the season, otherwise NU would be the 2 seed and UND the 3 and just maybe NU would also have 2 Hobey Baker top Ten as well. Really looking forward to this game.

Sounds like Giancarlo Iuoria is one heck of a player, and since he is 5'11", it looks like Andrew MacWilliam will get another five minute major after he rips his head off.

Just like NoDak did to Kearney and Arcobello, good times, good times.

Those $3 beers come in a shot glass.

Niagara is a good first game draw for UND. I understand NU has a Hobey finalist in net but a couple periods of sustained pressure should fix that problem. UND isn't solid in net, either one of our 'tenders gives up a weak goal almost every game and those have to be non-existent at this stage of the game. One of these guys needs to get red hot if there is going to be a chance of putting 8 in the case, oh and it would be cool if Rocco converted on 20% of all these chances he's getting/creating.

Who do you think UND will roll with in net?

Hasn't Hakstol said this is the best goaltender they've seen in college hockey in quite some time?

I'd suspect Gothberg goes, but that's just gut. Neither would surprise me.

I've heard some water cooler talk about Monique Lamoureux coming in as a 3rd d(wo)man instead of goaltender so we will see......

Well I guess I'm calling Hak suspect because where do you get tape on Niagara?! For some reason the WCHA doesn't produce as many star 'tenders as the east coast and I don't know exactly why but I would venture coaching is a big culprit. I believe that with the amount of split time Gothberg and Saunders have it will probably come down to who has the better week of practice........or a coin flip........or who casts the biggest shadow........maybe shoe size.

That is exactly what it will take. Whoever plays in the net can't let in any softies - if they do, we don't go anywhere. It wouldn't hurt to get more from the 2nd and 3rd lines too. Oh, and if Rocco could cash in and not hit his usual 2 posts a game, we're in good shape.

Rocco cashes in when he is paired with Caggiula and I hate seeing 3 playmakers on the same line (rocco, knight, kristo), there has to be a big grinder like Rowney to post up in front of the net and blow up dmen on a forecheck.
