The replay was BSU-broadcast ugly. On par with the UNH-SCSU broadcast.

From what I gathered from Schloss and Hennesey, Fasching looked very good, as did Keaton Thompson. I believe he had the 3rd or 4th goal, and Thompson assisted on the (2nd?) one...

Yeah, Fasching had a goal and two assists I believe (his goal was the 4th on the PP). Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it), it will likely be the last goal that he scores at the Ralph. He's going to be a very good player.

Thompson sounded quite strong as well. It will be a lot of fun to have him in the kelly green and white.

Re: 2012-2013 North Dakota Hockey: Season Thread

Are these kids that good or did UND take their foot off the gas? Or was it a combination of both?

UND spent a lot of time in the box. I believe 3 of the 4 goals came on the Powerplay for USA. They are okay, but it sounded like UND made a few mistakes (like getting your goalie caught behind the net/communication breakdown) that led to a couple tap-in goals.

Re: 2012-2013 North Dakota Hockey: Season Thread

So typical beginning of the year UND stuff. Anyone that still falls for their particular brand of the rope-a-dope should be institutionalized.

:)

Yeah, I don't think anyone is too concerned. OTOH, it will be interesting to see what kind of lineup UND has next weekend up in Alaska as a result of both injury and suspensions.

Re: 2012-2013 North Dakota Hockey: Season Thread

From the rumors that I've heard, Rowney and Parks sitting are more precautionary than anything, and that both should make the trip up to Alaska. If that isn't the case, it will be an interesting weekend up in Alaska. I guess it will give some guys good playing minutes to showcase what they can bring to the table.
The last two times that I saw Parks he was on Crutches so I don't know if that is a very good sign... At Friday's game, he had a boot on as well.

BU fan here coming in peace. A few friends and I will be making the trek in a few weeks, we're flying to MPLS and driving to GF from there. Any of you have a good estimate of how long the drive is? Google says it's ~325 miles, which we're estimating at about 4.5 hours, is that around right? We'll be driving up early Friday and back after the game on Saturday night. Just want to get an idea of what we're looking at time wise. Thanks, looking forward to the trip.

What time will you be driving out of the city on Friday? Given the location of the airport, you will have to drive around/through town, so if you are in the commute, it will add time. Better figure 5. Have fun.

It's a four and a half to five hour trip from MPLS. Depending how the roads are.

Quite possibly one of the most boring drives of all time, especially once you get north of Fargo on I-29 (even though you can go 85-90 mph). Depending on Minneapolis traffic, my guess is the drive will take you about 5 hours, possibly 5.5, depending on how fast you are driving. 75-77 mph will do you fine for most of the drive until North Dakota, but I would suggest slowing down around Sauk Centre, MN, about 100 miles outside of Minneapolis on I-94, because the highway patrol there are notorious for pulling people over for going even 71 or 72 mph. Either way, once you are done with the trip to Grand Forks, you will be glad you live in Boston. :D;)

probably lunch time, early afternoon. we're flying in thursday night and staying over there so we'll have time there. it's really more the drive back i was wondering about since we're deciding on getting a hotel that night in MPLS or just camping at the airport until morning. looks like 4.5-5 it is. thanks all!

edit: 71-72? srsly? speed limit 65?

It's 70 so 71-72 is a bit conservative IMO. You should be fine at ~75 or even a little more, depending on what other drivers are doing. But as noted above, be prepared for a very boring drive! Far western Minnesota and the drive up eastern North Dakota is about as flat and featureless as it gets. Just don't judge all of Minnesota by what you'll be seeing on this trip!

In ND it's 75 once you leave Fargo.

So, it appears that Carter Rowney will be ready to go up in Alaska this weekend, but Michael Parks is probably out a few weeks according to Hakstol. That will make our lineup pretty interesting this weekend.
