Rationale:
West--Based on gophs poor Friday performances over the past few week,. tempted to pick Yale. But if Yale wins and has to play the sioux, not sure they could get 2 in a row. No one is picking Niagara. And since I definitely don't want to see the sioux have a chance to win their 8th title have to pick the gophs over the sioux.

Northeast.--Have to pick Denver over UNH. And DU doesn't match up well with badgers ( they are boring), Have to pick Lowell. DU to take 2nd win from Lowell this season.

East-Q the obvious choice in game 1. Tired of seeing BC in the Frozen Four, so i'll take Union. Really don't know much about Q, so i'll take Union again.

Midwest-Don't dislike "our lady" as much as the maize and blue, but would rather see the Cloudies get the W, Sorry Mavs. i'm going with the Hawks. Rico's Hawks deserve another shot at the Frozen Four.

I just think Lowell is the better team. The Wisconsin-Lowell matchup could be a classic, but I don't know if anyone in the country is playing better than Lowell right now. I hate Denver, so I usually pick against them, and given that UNH is at home it was a no-brainer.

I didn't realize it until now, but I picked 1 team from each of the four major conferences. Hey, it happened last year right? :p:D:D

In their last 15, Wisco has lost to Minne (T1 in the W), PSU in OT (embarrassing), and SCSU (T1 in the W). Then skated through the F5 with little difficulty. Lowell, in their last 15 lost to Maine (embarrassing), Merrimack (meh), and Providence (game was for 1st in HE). First playoff game they won 4-2 when ME scored in the last minute, then had one-goal games the rest of the way. One's opinion is never wrong, but a strong case can be made for the flip. The other reason I found it so funny is that I'm leaning West in both games, too. For pure hockey, I think the three games in that Regional will be the best of these rounds.

The matchups are certainly closer (or at least the perceptions are that they are closer). Also, keep in mind that Wisconsin had to only play 2 road games in their last 15, and they were at Omaha, who struggled mightily down the stretch. Ten of their last 15 were at home, including a draw with Bemidji, and the loss to Penn State. Meanwhile, Lowell had to play 7 games on the road, and only played 6 at home (the only loss being against a respectable Friar squad in a quasi-battle for the Hockey East Regular Season title.

Both teams like to play low-scoring defense-first games. I wouldn't be surprised if the total goals in that game amounted to the number of hyphens I used in this post. :p:D:D
