Hmmm. Food for thought. But I think I'll stand pat. Especially since otherwise we're all just picking the same teams. There really have to be some "unexpected" winners in this thing. Hopefully this is where they are.

Re: 2012-2013: NCAA Weekly Pick'em

only 2 selections of St. Cloud. Those are looking great right now with St. Cloud leading 4-0!

I assume Lowell's win last night and strong position looking forward allow you to not feel the pain of being one of the few to pick ND to come out of the Midwest. Good luck tonight. But you do play the U of No Hardware. :D

Re: 2012-2013: NCAA Weekly Pick'em

The fan in me wants UND to win. The self-centered schmuck in me wants Yale to win since I no longer have a horse in this regional. I was this close to taking UND tonight, but didn't want to be in complete agreement with all bear.

No pain since Lowell's magical season continues.

Please tell me we're taking this week off. I need an extra week to tend to my lumps and bruises.

I'm thinking about how I want to do the Frozen Four, so it may take a few days. You certainly wouldn't have to pick until next Thursday if you didn't want. :p:D:D

It was a crazy weekend, that is for sure.

Re: 2012-2013: NCAA Weekly Pick'em

Week 24 games...

Well, we've reached the final week for games this season, and we'll crown a champion next weekend. For the Frozen Four, the set up will be slightly different. For the Semifinals and Finals you will pick the winner of each game. The Semifinals are worth 5 points each, while the Final is worth 10 points. In addition, you will pick the total goals scored for each game. For the Semifinals, you will be given 5 points, but will lose 1 point for each total goal that you were off by. For the Finals, you will be given 10 points, but will lose 2 points for each total goal that you were off by. You CAN earn negative points within each of the rounds, but overall you cannot go below zero.

Here is an example of how it works...(not my picks)

Semifinals:
Lowell vs. Yale - Yale
Total Goals - 7

SCSU vs. Quinnipiac - SCSU
Total Goals - 5

National Champion - SCSU
Total Goals - 6

If the results were as follows: Lowell beats Yale 3-2 and SCSU beats QU 7-4 in the semis, and then Lowell beats SCSU 5-3 in the Final.

I would earn:
Semifinals:
Lowell vs. Yale - Yale (0 points)
Total Goals - 7 (3 points (I was off by 2 total goals, so I subtract 2 from 5 points))

SCSU vs. Quinnipiac - SCSU (5 points)
Total Goals - 5 (-1 points (I was off by 6 total goals, so I subtract 6 from 5 points))

National Champion - SCSU (0 points)
Total Goals - 6 (6 points (I was off by 2 total goals, so I subtract 2 from 5 and then multiply by 2))

Total: 13 points

An additional 10 bonus points will be given if a predictor gets absolutely everything correct (Each winner, and Each game's total goals). Consequently, this round is worth 50 points. As always, picks must be in by puckdrop of the first game Thursday, April 11 (NO EXCEPTIONS). Anyone can play, and let the best predictor win!

OFFICIAL PICK FORMAT:

Semifinals:
Lowell vs. Yale -

SCSU vs. Quinnipiac -
