Re: 2012-13 WCHA Thread:Breaking Up is Hard to Do

Here's the coaches poll for reference:

1. Minnesota 121 (11)
2. North Dakota 110 (1)
3. Denver 91
4. SCSU 90
5. Wisconsin 70
6. Duluth 69
7. Colorado College 56
8t. Omaha 51
8t. Michigan Tech 51
10. MSU-Mankato 37
11. Bemidji State 31
12. Anchorage 15

Based on the numbers, we can conclude that:

• Lucia (or his representative) voted for UND to finish first. Everybody else voted for UMN to finish first.
• Everybody but Lucia voted for UND to finish second except for one ballot who put them in third.
• Either Denver or SCSU received that rogue second place vote.

I'm sure more could be deduced, but for myself, I just wanted to determine the relative consistency of the ballots. It looks like 1 & 2 are very consistent, while 3 & 4 are fairly consistent. So, no coach will be able to claim to be a prescient genius if the top of the ticket doesn't look a lot like this (except for possibly the rogue second place voter).

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to mention that UAA has no fewer than 7 last place votes. :)

I had no problem with Stolock until I saw him reach out and dig his stick in between a Gopher player's legs/crotch during a scrum in front of the Bulldogs net at Mariucci a few years back. Hated the guy ever since then.
You have to admire a goalie that does that. :) No one used to come infront of Billy Smith's cage unless they wanted to get pummeled.

This write up gives me the sense that Wilcox is maybe a little Stalock-esque with the "aggressive" comment. I know nothing about the guy, is that true?
I forgot to mention. I believe they are cousins. This makes the fact that they are similar in hockey more fascinating.

Tipsy McStagger's poll is also out:

1. Minnesota
2. St. Cloud State
3. Denver
4. North Dakota
5. Wisconsin
6. Michigan Tech
7. Colorado College
8. Nebraska-Omaha
9. Minnesota-Duluth
10. Minnesota State
11. Bemidji State
12. Alaska-Anchorage
Not for the sole purpose of patting myself on the back, but to also remind other people to check back and see how they did with their predictions. I am going to factor in tiebreakers.

1. Minnesota off by 1
2. St. Cloud State off by 1
3. Denver off by 2
4. North Dakota off by 1
5. Wisconsin off by 1
6. Michigan Tech off by 4
7. Colorado College off by 1
8. Nebraska-Omaha off by 1
9. Minnesota-Duluth Correct
10. Minnesota State off by 4
11. Bemidji State Correct
12. Alaska-Anchorage Correct

Total = off by 16. Not too shabby. Got Mankato and Tech wrong.
