2012-13 Tournament Thread. Lakeside and Mountains! Who wins? + Point @ Adrian

Re: 2012-13 Tournament Thread. Lakeside and Mountains! Who wins? + Point @ Adrian

Where were the Cards for the first 58 min?
They were skating their brains out, but Amherst was just a bit better, smarter, skilled, savvy.

Re: 2012-13 Tournament Thread. Lakeside and Mountains! Who wins? + Point @ Adrian

Amherst is an impressive team. It might be one of those teams the Cards don't match up with very well. Their D keeps everything outside and is very mobile. It's hard to imagine Trinity beating them. I thought they were on par with the Norwich, Oswego types. In fact, they are better defensively than either one of those teams.

I've seen enough of the Lord Jeffs for a while. Let Norwich or Oswego try them out !!

Can't do much better than the goose egg Norwich threw up against Plattsburgh a few weeks ago.... ;)

Re: 2012-13 Tournament Thread. Lakeside and Mountains! Who wins? + Point @ Adrian

Went to the game. Snowy drive down the 87 from Montreal. First time at the Cardinal rink. Very nice. Plattsburgh just seemed flat. First five minutes...some intensity..a good cycle...then not much penetration or consistent pressure. Good skating club...good skills....just flat. Couldn't seem to hit net and not many second chances. Has to hurt losing your Xmas tournament especially when you make sure you go to the finals by playing Wesleyan. Little enthusiasm from fans. It was one of those games that if it was Junior the coach would be sending someone to scrap just to shake up the boys.

Re: 2012-13 Tournament Thread. Lakeside and Mountains! Who wins? + Point @ Adrian

Never heard of Emory, but good luck anyways.

Happy New Year Remy!! ...Emery/Emory Meh....2 losses in a row to a school where by their junior year most guys are doing internships in the summer on Wall Street and aren't really focused on hockey. Not to mention legendary partying. Speaks volumes about Plattsburgh program it would seem. Nice rink, mediocre results. Good luck to you too.

And From the NESCAC thread:

An equal opportunity troll - I'm sure he has something to say about "MacShane," too - that would give him the Primelink coach trifecta :D

I have seen Beaney jerk to many guys around. Prof..if you are offended by "wanker" allow me to rephrase by stating unequivocally that Beany is not an honorable man. I do not say that lightly. I have had first hand knowledge of his behavior which in my estimation is opportunistic, manipulative and venal. Summing up, at the risk of redundancy and offending you again.."wanker". Happy New Year!

Curious if anyone thinks this Amherst win was an upset?

Re: 2012-13 Tournament Thread. Lakeside and Mountains! Who wins? + Point @ Adrian

Amherst win was not really an upset. They are a very, very good team. As good a defensive team as there is in DIII hockey. Opportunistic offense with a nice power play. Having seen Oswego and Norwich play, I would rather play either one in a one-game, one-win scenario.
I take nothing away from the Lakers or Cadets. They are the cream of the east. Perhaps they just present matchup problems for Plattsburgh. But anyone who saw the FF last year knows that Amherst was clearly the better team vs. Oswego. Amherst looks as good as last year's team while the Lakers (sans Whitelaw) may not be as good.

I respect the Norwich program as much as any, and I realize they have scheduling limitations, but they need to juice up their NC schedule a bit more and somehow find a way to play Amherst and/or Oswego.

Amherst will be at the Northfield Savings Bank Tournament next season.

Before the NESCAC went off on their own, we played Amherst every year

I know Norwich played Amherst prior to the break, but this is a MUCH different Amherst team.

Are you talking about this year? Or are you saying traditionally in the Interlock Amherst played Norwich before the break?

The rest of the teams in next year's NSB tourney are MSOE, Amherst and Plymouth State.

I think by "before the break" he means before the break up of the interlock :(

Adrian looks much better so far today, scoreless after 1 with UWSP

I do like being able to see the live stats simultaneously with the video - I know Bowdoin does that, too. I don't like the random commercials, however...

agree...they play disciplined hockey altogether, they dont give up many odd man breaks, as their forwards always seem to err on the defensive side...a tough team for any team to match up against ..Im sure they will b around come Marchish

Re: 2012-13 Tournament Thread. Lakeside and Mountains! Who wins? + Point @ Adrian

And Adrian gets one back..

Make that a pair to tie it as UWSP takes a stupid penalty and Adrian converts the PP (Although UWSP does not have a monopoly on stupid penalties in this one) and that's how it is, as they used to say on HNIC "after 40 minutes"

Lawrence leads Castleton 1-0 after 1 and Babson leads Middlebury 1-0 after one.
