Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

Since we know the fans will be back in the arenas when the lockout ends, I have an idea....

For the 1st period back, fans are not in the seats, but on the concourse (or at home). Send a message for that can't be missed on TV, or to the players or to the owners. You risk our wrath playing us for fools.

That's every night at the Air Canada Centre! :D

I agree, I'll believe it when they announce a signed agreement.
Talks have been moved to the site of the old Forum in Montreal. Both sides will be locked into a Tim Horton's until a solution is reached with a total news blackout in place. Each day the public will know what is going on via the release of black puck (no go) or a white puck (habemus contractus!) from the Atwater Street entrance at 5 PM.

If after 2 weeks of no solution, they move to a McDonalds in the same complex.

Hell, there's an article in the Toronto Star today about Fehr saying if this goes much longer, the players will be "very unhappy" to play under a salary cap and again rhapsed poetically about how great the MLB system where players get 41% of the pie is.

You spend more money if you're on the concourse than you do if you're in your seats. Staying home is what would send a message to the owners.

Right. The only way to really send a message is to actually have real attendance problems. No half measures.

Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

Problem is that none of this will ever happen. The NHL knows that the only people these days that care are the die hards who will come back the very day the lockout ends so they are risking nothing long term. They can wait this out because next year no matter what the same amount of fans will be in the arena and watching on tv. They have no incentive to work faster.

Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

I'm surprised someone hasn't started some kind of "Fan Union" on the interwebs. I would think that it would rapidly gain members, but I don't know if would do anything. The owners would ignore it, and there would be no incentive for fans that joined to actually stick with what they agreed to during the lockout.

There is one. It's been around since 1998 and it's got over 30,000 members: http://www.nhlfa.com/
