2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

I have to wonder what NBC thinks of all this.... It seems that the NBC Sports Net. seems to be hitched to the NHL and the lockout can not be good for business...

The playoffs are where NBC makes their money. I don't think it becomes much of an issue unless the whole season is lost.

#CBA Don Fehr just addressed Daly's comments. In response to NHL's frustration with PA, Fehr said league "take a look in the mirror."

In other news, ESPN is going to air hockey.

This doesn't surprise me. They used to air the games on ESPN 3 before, so this really isn't anything new. And, it's just streaming on ESPN3. It's not like they're going to stop airing two hours of NFL talk and an hour of NBA coverage to air these.

ESPN America lost the international rights to the NHL last year, and picked up the rights to the AHL for international broadcast.

It's almost comical how ESPN sh*ts on hockey in the US, but really pushes to air hockey internationally.

Looks like the NESCAC is governing the NHL.....

Be wary of anyone telling you NHL talks coming to a pivotal moment. Not even close. Both have already conceded no hockey in Oct, Nov.

Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

NHL cancels 82 games. From everyone, it's not like they eliminated Phoenix. (Although, that certainly would speed up negotiations. Start eliminating teams in draft order one by one.)

Daly released a statement that "It was a difficult decision but..." which rings hollow. It's like getting a whipping from your parents when your younger, and while you're crying they tell you how much it hurts them more to do that.

NHL fans just took a belt to the *ss and was "comforted" by being told that it hurt the NHL more.

Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

I think this lockout is going to hurt both sides, unless the last one.

In 2005-06, they came back with Crosby and Ovechkin, and with new rules that opened the ice after years of dead puck. 5 50 goal scorers and 7 100+ point scorers, including two over 120.

What do they have this time?

Way to go NHL.

FAN POLL: HOME COOKIN'
Which Pacific Division team has the best home arena?

Phoenix (Jobing.com Arena)
San Jose (HP Pavilion)
Los Angeles (Staples Center)
Dallas (Dr. Pepper Arena)
Anaheim (Honda Center)

I didn't realize that the Dallas Stars got moved to Frisco, Texas.

Way to go NHL. This confirms what most fans knew: The NHL Offices have no *ing clue what they're doing. They know as much about their own clubs as Sam Holbrook knows about the infield-fly rule.

Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

1:00 PM Eastern tomorrow on ESPN2 and ESPN3
Dynamo Moscow vs. Lev Prague (Ovechkin vs. Chara).

Levy & Melrose on the PxP. Dunno if they're in Prague or in Bristol.

Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

Live on the Deuce today, and replays tonight. It's most likely a test bed for airing more KHL games (at least until the lockout ends).

Forget where I read it, but Melrose and Levy are calling the game from Bristol. Expect it to sound like a BigTen Network hockey game (lots of aimless chatter about both teams, little play-by-play of the game).

They just spent five minutes talking about AHL hockey and Union College..

This is worse than the BTN calling games from Chicago.. Would rather listen to the Russian commentary and try to make out what they are saying.. Bristol could better yet just subtitle the Russian commentary..

We need Gord Miller & Pierre live from the rink.

They can always futz with the rules. Hell, eliminate the goalie. Games will be scored by SOG totals. Dixie'll love it.

Stoppages never hurt because the fans will always be led back. The only way things like this will ever stop is if the fans just declare a death penalty and stone cold stop buying anything that contributes to the NHL revenue stream for say 12 months.

Since we know the fans will be back in the arenas when the lockout ends, I have an idea....

For the 1st period back, fans are not in the seats, but on the concourse (or at home). Send a message for that can't be missed on TV, or to the players or to the owners. You risk our wrath playing us for fools.

I've decided to give the entire NHL a 2 year death penalty. I'm not going to go to any games, buy any NHL licensed merchandise (and not wear any that I currently own), avoid and events held at NHL arenas (and not buy anything additional at those events).

Will this change anything, not in the least. Will it make me feel better about the whole situation, yes because this is MY choice not forced on me by the owners and players.

Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

2013 was going to be the year I splurged on a Wings jersey. I think that money will be going to other things now.

Was going to splurge on a Roku and NHL GameCenter. Spent it on UAA season tickets instead. Might pick up some Aces tickets as well, who knows.

Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

I also decided that I won't be spending any of my money on tickets or on any apparel for several years. **** them.
And I was a partial season ticket holder with MN last season.

According to source close to ownership, even with a little grandstanding for show, thrown in for another 2 weeks or so, Game On by mid-Nov.
