GG Fox Sports.

Feel bad for any Vancouver fans following the score from that website.

...Wait, no I don't.

Absolutely.

Vancouver's chicken**** thuggery has lit a fire under Boston like nothing else could have. If Mr. Chewtoy had been suspended, the edge comes off, and Vancouver gets to replay their "woe is us" tape they used in Round 1 to good effect, cowing the NHL officials in that series.

The next big question will be whether the NHL will do the right thing and suspend Rome for the series. And while they are at it, to fine or suspend for at least two other intent-to-injure attempts - Hansen and Torres - in Game 3.

Vancouver has been headhunting - seeking to injure - this entire playoff season. Its time for the NHL to cut that off at the knees and send a message that enough is enough.

The NHL won't hit them hard, it's the playoffs.
I'd rather Boston do it.

I almost fear them suspending a whole bunch of people to show control of the game and allowing Vancouver to feature their "depth".

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

I have lost some respect for a few of the Vancouver players, namely Lapaierre and Borrows. Both are whiny diving *****s who are clearly used to and expecting preferential treatments from the refs. The best part had to have been when Lapierre gets hit and grabs his face, realizes no call is coming, than continues to skate. That’s just a disgrace to the game. At last the forward who accidentally shot it into the bruins bench was classy though ( who was that again?).

Vancouver chirped and acted like dicks, and now instead of being up 3-0, they are up only 2-1 in a series that has been as close as you could get. As I maintained, they could just as easily be down 3-0, as Boston matches up well ( in my opinion) against Vancouver’s style - especially their PP. Boston’s coaching staff will keep this club at a level head, but I really like Boston’s chances in game 4. They need to continue doing what they did in games 1, 2, and 3 – even though it didn’t get the W in the first game. I liked the east/west even at times if it was one too many passes.

Also Timmy Thomas… what a beast. Someone crowds his net and he decks them. You gotta love this guy. He has a bit of Hasek in him.

Rome needs to be suspended. Bruins players were suspended for less. That hit was late, leading with an elbow, and left his feet. There was nothing ‘stevens-esque’ about it. Stevens was just mean, but his hits were clean.

Most people on the TSN comments think this was a clean, non suspendable hit. Most think the 5 minutes was too much.

They also think Burrows didn't bite Bergeron.

How much should we bet that the NHL gives him a slap on the wrist? Maybe suspend him for the preseason...

So, it's the running opinion on the Canadian equivalent of Yahoo/ESPN's comments page.

I feel *more* secure that a suspension would be the right call now.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Rome's hearing started at 11am, and lasted 20 minutes. Should be hearing something here shortly regarding the suspension I would assume. I'd follow McKenzie from TSN on Twitter for that news.
