Offsides?

Guess not. Good game Vancouver. Fun one to watch. Can't wait until Saturday.

I don't like Raffi Torres, but he's had a pretty good playoffs...

Nice play by Kesler and Hansen to set that up...

The more I watch, the more I think that the play should've been called offsides. His skate was off the ice I think.

Boom.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

That would be onsides. ****ed close though...

I dunno. You can't say for sure his skate's on the ice from that angle. If you watch a few frames later, his skate comes down and skitters a bit on the ice, leading me to believe it was off the ice beforehand.

No doubt it was very very close. And if the call went the other way, it would take a photo like that before people started agreeing on all counts.

Given the general feeling towards the Canucks (even some of Canada are rooting for Boston), and that it was in VAN, the obvious sentiment was that is was a home-call. I can't fault people for that. It's human nature.

If the call had gone the other way it would have been solid evidence of the NHL's anti-Canuck CoNsPiRaCy!

I don't know that his skate ever leaves the ice...

Either way, I couldn't fault the linesman if he called it offsides either since it was literally by a toe.

Exactly. It may or may not have been offsides, but I can't be too upset. Bang bang play.

Vancouver outplayed Boston in the third and deserved to win the game.

****** Offsides

OK - pardon me if I'm maybe just a little cranky having had to deal with my near-dial-up speed DSL tonight, but can we please call it what it is.

It's OFF-SIDE, singular - not plural.

Flame away in 3..2..1 - but here it is in black & white:

Rule 83 - Off-side

83.1 Off-side - Players of the attacking team must not precede the puck into the attacking zone.

The position of the player’s skates and not that of his stick shall be the determining factor in all instances in deciding an off-side. A player is off-side when both skates are completely over the leading edge of the blue line involved in the play.

If Vancouver goes on to lose this series, those same people had better not be caught whining about a Canadian team not winning the Cup since '93, and spouting various Bettman/anti-Canada conspiracy theories.
