Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

How the hell is that a musical? I don't even remember any songs in it.
The whole movie was songs. What are you talking about?

•"Mountain Town"
•"Uncle F*cka"
•"Wendy's Song"
•"It's Easy, Mmmkay"
•"Hell Isn't Good"
•"Blame Canada"
•"Kyle's Mom's a B*tch"
•"What Would Brian Boitano Do?"
•"Up There"
•"La Resistance (Medley)"
•"I Can Change"
•"I'm Super"
•"Eyes of a Child"

Don't remember that, but its been a while since I've seen it. I remember some of those songs, now that you list them, but I didn't know they were from the movie.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

According to some Joe Yerdon clown who read a Darren Dreger tweet, Colin Campbell is finally out of the Wheel of Justice business.

I don't believe the Shanny thing until it's official. Campbell will be replaced with someone even worse. It's the NHL way.

Yep, read from Bob Mackenzie that Mike Murphy will take over for the Cup final with Shanahan taking over next season.

Some of you techies may have even seen Mike Murphy at your games. His kid played at NMU. :D

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Given that good old Campbell is still going to be VP of Hockey Operations - and therefore, Shanahan's boss - does anyone really think this is going to change anything?

In other news, the Rangers get 2009 23rd overall pick Tom Erixon from Calgary and a 5th in exchange for Roman Horak and two 2nd's. Calgary was facing losing him if he was unsigned by 5pm. Erixon is thought to be NHL ready, and according to Bobby Mac, was seen as a top 10 pick by the Rangers had he gone back in.

Now who will Canucks fan blame for the loss?

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Does anyone think the Canucks have a chance?

They're the favorites, aren't they?

I think they have a good chance, especially if they can get on the power play. 5x5 the Bruins are slightly better, but on special teams it isn't even close. The B's want more games like Game 7 vs TB where no penalties were called. I think B's in 6 but wouldn't be surprised if the Canucks won in 7. I would be surprised if either team wins in 4 or 5 games.

It's their best chance ever, since they're the favorites for once - which means they'll probably blow it. Regardless of the outcome though, this run probably spared Luuuuuuuuu at least one summer of media opinion articles criticizing his contract.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

They made a mistake and aired in the tape marked "Gary's Whacking Material", instead of the correct commercial.

It's about time that one of these potential jinxes goes Boston's way :)

Speaking of time . . . last time we were here, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones weren't big yet (90) and the Pixies were giving alternacritics eargasms (88).

Who the frack is big in the Boston music scene these days?

That and if he loses, he loses to Tim Thomas, who has a hefty contract of his own.

Lose another series to a kid making 2010 Niemi money (sub 1 million) and you'll get the "Why the hell do we pay a goalie?" question that teams decided on last year.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

And by the way, thank you NBC for insisting on an 8pm start. Otherwise Vancouver + OT = pretty much useless at work next morning (insert joke here).

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

It's hockey weather as the temperature in Vancouver for game one of the Stanley Cup Finals has plunged to a bone-numbing...sixty-three degrees.:o

Play ball!

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

It'll be interesting to see what the ice is like in this series. Have to believe that the Vancouver staff have their compressors set to 11.

eta: 63 is pretty warm, but it's still about 30 degrees cooler than it would have been if Tampa *had* made the finals.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

It's hard to top an entire building signing the Canadian National anthem. Now I'm nervous.
