2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

Maybe Vancouver recovered from their scare.

A game like that from the Preds (Rinne aside) should restore a bit of confidence.

I hate to sound like the kind of fan Bettman targeted in his bid to increase scoring six years ago, but 1-0 games like the one we just sat through are awful.

I am still mad that hip check was called, and I really don't like the Canucks. Take away Ballard's skill at giving those out, and all you have left is his skill at clocking his own goaltender.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

You guys are right. You all bring up valid reasons why everyone should act like an idiot/doosh to everyone else.

The chanting/insults don't irritate me, it's the shoves he receives when he is trying to leave.

FWIW, I would never heckle an opposing fan just for wearing his team's jersey. That being said, I would never subject myself to that potential situation. Sounds stupid to say, but dumb on his part wearing the Gionta shirt to begin with. I completely agree that he doesn't deserve to be treated like that.

Finally, why did Gionta have to sign with the Habs?

In response to the Bruins Bad Decision vid:

* Boston fans. Yes, I know those in the video may be in the minority, but more often than not, I have been been in "hostile" territory for sports games. Never have had that happen, not one bit. And this is from a guy who wore a Vikings jersey in the middle of WI at a hick bar in a small town (Spencer, WI; google/wiki it :D).

And to add to it (although the video MAY have not told the whole story), the guy did nothing to deserve that treatment. Now if he mouthed off, sure, payback is justified, and expected.

I know if I mouth off (which is probably going to happen) I expect a similar reaction. Same level of "personal insults" so to speak, but similar nonetheless.

I kinda like it when I get to see one or both goalies give "pitching gems" like that. Rinne has always been a fun goalie to watch. Very Kari Lehtonen-esque in either coughing up big rebounds for sport, or smothering the puck every time it gets near.

Wow, talk about a blast from the past....I'm listening to a Tampa Bay Lightning radio feed of tonight's game. Phil Esposito does color commentary for the Lightning radio crew.

Lidstrom.

The Wings are going to have to do a lot more of that.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

What did Guy Boucher do before becoming the Tampa Bay coach? Try to take over the world only to have James Bond to foil him?

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

I cannot believe that Lidstrom has scored 51 goals in his playoff career. That is one for every year of his life!
