Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Steckel to Toronto

The New Jersey Devils have traded centre David Steckel to the Toronto Maple Leafs for a fourth-round pick in next year's draft.

The deal with the Maple Leafs on Tuesday enables the Devils to shed Steckel's $1.1 million US salary cap hit. He has two years remaining on his contract.

The 29-year-old Steckel had one goal in 18 games last season with the Devils after being acquired from Washington at the trade deadline for center Jason Arnott.

Steckel is perhaps best known for his hit to the head of Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, while playing for Washington, in the Winter Classic on Jan. 1. Crosby absorbed another hit in a game four days later and hasn't played since then.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Ference will wear the 2nd A during Home Games, Kelly wearing it for Away Games for the Bruins. Both good choices.

Predictions for the season....

Boston's Record will be 48-23-11, for 107 points. They will finish 2nd in the Conference.

Tyler Seguin will have a monster year, scoring 28 goals.

Krejci finishes the year with 25 goals and 58 assists for a total of 83 points.

Rask plays much more than last year, playing 34 games. This isn't because Thomas does poorly, but just because they are playing both goalies more.

Boston beats Buffalo in 6, New York in 7, and Pittsburgh in 7 to advance to the Stanley Cup Final, but loses to the Sharks in 7 games.

I commend you on the incredible specificity of your predictions. :p

Center Ice over cable is so frustrating (yet I buy it every year). They're covering one game tonight - ONE - and can't be bothered to put it on the HD channel. So lame.

Double post.

I notice that there must have been a rule passed saying that numbers have to be on the forehead of the helmet as well.

Jack Johnson wins it on the PP due to an OT penalty taken by McDonagh.
