2011 NASCAR Season: Anyone But The 48

Re: 2011 NASCAR Season: Anyone But The 48

Toyota cars are as American or more American than Fords these days. Sad but true.
...

Umm, I was taking a swipe at Jack Roush* and how anything Ford was (for the last, what, decade and a half?) filtered through Jack first, THEN to other teams. Well until Jarrett and Labonte left, Yates and Roush both had input on what they wanted Ford to do (hence the Yates/Roush engine package in 200-ish), and any "Ford" sponsored driver had to get their "factory support" from Roush.

That, and for a couple years, Roush was actually building chassis for the Wood Brothers out of his shops. At one point the 21 car was listed on Roush Racing's website (if I recall).

*yes, I know that it's sort of wrong to take jabs at the owner for my favorite NASCAR driver.

I was responding to Timothy A, but really I shouldn't have interpreted what he said that way. He was just annoyed at the bail-out companies.

Trevor Bayne hits the wall in practice today and will have to go the backup car for Sunday's race at Phoenix. Bummer.

Yeah, but he doesn't have to go to the back since the car wasn't qualified yet, or so I saw on ESPN.

No winner has earned points in a national level NASCAR event this year.

Re: 2011 NASCAR Season: Anyone But The 48

Daytona happened a week later. Holy cripes...Lot of wrecked race cars early in Phoenix.

Arounds 20 cars are severely damaged right now and/or out of the race. Some big names in it too.

Gordon ends his winless streak at 66 races. I was glad to see him win.

I'm one of the farthest things from a Gordon fan but it was pretty cool to see him back in Victory Lane today.

JJ had a great points day taking the 48 up from 28th to a 3rd place finish by avoiding that big wreck.

Terrible pit stop cost him his chance at the win. But, I'll certainly take third.

Kevin Harvick up to his old tricks again from last year....Not a factor the whole race but somehow finds his way into the top five at the end of the race. It's amazing how often he does that.

Just got offered tickets and a ride to Bristol in two weeks. Pretty sure I can't turn this down.

Busy watching hockey all weekend. :D I never expect him to win the pole, and I've found myself too busy lately to keep up with the pole day/practices.
