If we're going to make the case that Bonds and Clemens were already worthy of induction without steroids, then Pete Rose belongs. He put up tremendous numbers over a lengthy career and only ran afoul of the law as a manager. So if you're going to include Clemens or Bonds, make room for Pete.

Presumably if the Black Sox had thrown the series while on PEDs, they'd be the same thing.
(I am all for including Pete as long as you put "exceptional hitter and douchebag" right on the plaque.)

I honestly have more sympathy for letting in Clemens or Bonds than Rose. Not that I like any of the three of them, but the rules against gambling are a lot more clear than the mess that MLB has had for many years on PEDs. Rose should never get in before Shoeless Joe.

If I was a betting man, I'd give Rose a better chance at getting in than Jackson, but if things were remotely fair, it'd be the other way around.
I remember reading that Jackson was told by Landis that he was banned for the company he kept (he roomed with one of the ringleaders for throwing the Series).
