They don't need a first baseman (I know it sounds odd, since they'd be trading one - but I can't imagine it's high on the priority list, since they have options at first). I really think, unless the perfect deal comes along (which would involve pitching) and they are definitely, absolutely, completely out of it at the deadline (like 3-starters-need-TJ-surgery out of it) - they just keep Fielder and take the picks. I don't have a problem with that. I like Morneau, but I don't think he is what the Brewers need.
Morneau has some value, and they may think he's past his issues. Plus hes still under contract. It wouldn't be a 1-for-1 deal. The Twins would still have to throw in some prospects.
