2011 Ice Breaker: Air Force, Boston College, Michigan State and North Dakota

So, it is looking as if Rocco Grimaldi will miss the games this weekend with a lower body injury [insert joke about causation by coed clothing]. Hopefully he can get back next weekend. It certainly will make it difficult for the Sioux to win some games this weekend, or at the very least score some goals. Oh well...at least hockey is back.

Are you serious? Give the boys a LITTLE bit of credit.

I heard Rocco went back to his dorm and pulled his groin after getting lost and wandering into the women's Residence Hall.

Bummer Grimaldi is hurt. I'm just happy it's too warm in GF for frostbite!

I hope to be proven wrong, but I think we'll struggle to score goals. Defensively we should be sound, and I wouldn't be surprised by a couple of low scoring wins this weekend. However, I don't see us putting up more than 2-3 goals each night. Again, I hope that they prove me wrong and score 7-8 each night :)

Hockey tomorrow and Saturday! :) Hopefully I can make it to the Forks in time for the late game tomorrow.

I know he's supposed to be a talented player, but he hasn't even played in a game yet. I don't think missing him right now is a big issue. You know don't even know what he can do.

While that is true, I'm pretty sure about what the rest of the team can do. I know that Grimaldi in the lineup most likely wouldn't cause our goal production to go down. We will need all the scoring we can get. This is not last year's team.

True. Knight, Kristo and Nelson seem like a good trio to build around though. Are they on separate lines? I can't even begin to guess what BC's lines might look like. Lost four of their top six (going by line) forwards.

Knight, Kristo, and Nelson are all on the same line. Carter Rowney and Derek Rodwell should be able to contribute offensively as well, but after that there are a lot of unproven scorers. We'll see what happens.

Air Force over the Sioux 6-4. I hate the Falcons and I hate the Sioux... But in this game, I think AFA will shock Sioux nation with a good showing.
No way in hell the Sioux give up 6 goals to AF. In fact I don't see them giving up 6 goals in a game all year. The D is there strong point but I aslo don't see them scoring 6 goals to often either although it will happen more than once this year. I will be at the tourney and I'm looking forward to 4 great hockey games.

The Sioux are going to lose to Air Force.it may not be 6 goal outburst by the Falcons, but I think AFA is a better team than the Sioux. AFA's defense is extremely good. A 2-1 game is more likely.

UND's defense sucks... you totally know what the he77 you are talking about.

Considering he's able to discern which team is better before college hockey officially starts I'd say he definitely knows. I like paper.

Expect a strong contingency from the GF Air Force Base this weekend...

I'm a huge AFA fan, but there's no way AFA is better than ND...no way. Can we play them tough for a game or two and win, yes. But overall, ND is the better team.

What AFA does is play hard every second...and plays a very good defensive game. The goal is to keep this game close and take the victory late in the 3rd or OT. My prediction...ND 4 AF 2.

Got the DVR set to record the games and can't wait for the games to finally begin.

On a side note, I was checking out my hometown paper, the Star Tribune, today and couldn't help but notice their overwhelming coverage of opening night for the Goophers. Check it out: http://www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/The_Roman_Empire.html
