It is amazing how the penalty calling has changed. There was a TON of "today's" penalties in that game that did not get called. If the BTN keeps playing stuff like that they are going to make me like them. I hate, hate, hate how there is no pre-game or post-game to the live games on the BTN but that was a fun game to watch again. When does the 2003 game play!? :)

BTN imo would be alot better if they got some new faces calling the games, mix it up a bit. And, do more surrounding the game like FSN currently does with the post and pre game interviews etc.

That new NBC sports (old versus) is pretty solid imo.

Start a thread so the BTN people understand what we expect in our hockey coverage in a year and half.

The Gophers have considerably more talent and depth than CC or Notre Dame, etc and in this case, we played them at home. I wouldn't trade any of the Gophers lines 1-4 for any CC lines. Our D has the potential of resulting in several goals a game more than its opponents on any given night. With no goals scored through the first 58 mn of the game you can't fault our defense for losing last night. And Patterson is also a pretty talented goalie.

There's no question that they were snake bit last night...but that's been happening pretty much every other game and they're are 1-4 since new years eve. Folks shouldn't confuse talent and entertaining play with drive to whatever is needed to win.

Having said that, I'm fine if they lose a few more if it means they can get it out of their system.

I say we just send them a list of demands that tips them off to tArrogance. Then they'll change their ways for sure! :p

Got traded to <A HREF="http://ushl2011.stats.pointstreak.com/playerpage.html?playerid=4254657&seasonid=7561">Tri-City</A> for a first round draft pick. Getting a lot more time with them (which is great) :)

I don't understand this #1 ranking talk. They've played .500 hockey for months and then finally barely swept the walking wounded team from SCSU. If that garners a #1 I don't get it. Especially when the WCHA is the worst of the big 3 conferences this year.

I never said they should be ranked #1 (I don't), just that I hope they aren't when the rankings come out today. They were ranked #3 in both polls and the two teams ahead of them had horrible weekends.

Yeah PWR says UMD is #1 so that's where they should be, I know it doesn't work that way in the pohls,poles,polls.

They're 9th in PWR and 13th in KRACH. I don't even understand the #3 ranking.

I think UMD should stay #1 (as if it really matters). One bad weekend at home against a solid Michigan Tech team does not take away the fact that they have played the best hockey all season up to this point. Agreed with Scoobs. Minnesota would be about 7th or 8th in my poll (if I cared to make one). Minnesota could be 58th in the polls, and I could NOT care less.

Is the bye going to be a good thing for the Gophers, or will it negatively affect some of the momentum they picked up by getting their first sweep in nearly 2* months?

Great question. Glad they are getting some rest before the stretch run, but like you said I hope that doesn't effect the momentum they've built the last three weeks. I think they've been playing much better on Fridays recently.

If one bad weekend is not enough to knock derail UMD's ranking, I dont think one bye week is going to kill momentum from a couple of 1 goal wins for the Gophers ;) and if it does, they probably wouldnt have won anyways.

The team has played some charged up series of late, the break will do them good.

I got to believe that the Gophers are getting that ranking based on sheer talent. When the Gophers decide to play they really can beat anyone.

Having said that they don't deserve to be in the top five...they just have the potential to be there.
