Thanks, I will be watching you guys in the CCHA. UMD feels the same way about Defense and goaltending.

Wow, great win for Tech. After that 3rd period I was dreading the end of the game bit it was nice to come out on top for a change.

And dinner at Wendy's - an awesome way to top of the day!

Congerats to Tech for an awesome win tonight. NMU just didn't show up and got beat. It shows when you have a coach like Walter, you're team ususally won't show up to play the big rivalry games.


NMU will be lucky to have a 10 win season this year. Any of these Kool0Aid drinkers will tell you they'll get back to the NCAA this year, but not with a coach like Walt. They wasted their chance last year and they will keep wasting it until they get a new coaching staff at the helm! END THE DISASTER! GET A NEW CAPTAIN AT THE HELM!

Because Walt is clearly sailing hockey's equivalent of the Edmund Fitzgerald onward to her doom. :rolleyes:

Just as there isn't a captain in the world who could've saved the Fitz from her date with destiny, there isn't a hockey coach on the planet who could win every game for NMU and get them into the NCAAs every season. Get over yourself, enjoy the success your team has had lately, and stop trolling.

Solid win for Michigan Tech. I watched the game on the B2 feed while at the Lake State game. The way Tech crashed the net won the game. NMU taking a penalty during their 5-minute major really didn't help. NMU showed they could play very good hockey, but they just didn't come out on top of this one.

Lake State played a very nice game and did everything they could. Duluth has some great speed. BMW didn't have much chance, but I think the 6th goal was quite weak. Overall it was one heck of a game to be at, and when you pair it with a very competitive NMU/MTU game, the showcase was fantastic.

And they want to end it...

Jim Roque was on the radio last week saying he loves it and would like to see it continue. Quality opponents every year to start the season and a nice way to develop a rivalry with another UP school.

This is the last Superior Showcase.

UMD isn't interested in it, and NMU and Tech don't want another reason to play each other.

Duluth is the main reason the Showcase won't be renewed. They didn't like the extra bus ride to the Soo every other year, and with that new arena and a better team than they had four years ago, they figure they can bring in better opponents.

There are some Tech/NMU fans who would rather use the Showcase games to play other OOC games. I was one of those fans (particularly with St. Lawrence coming to Houghton this January), but frankly if the rumors of Tech bringing American International to town next season are true, I already want the Showcase back. :p

I have no problems with the occasional AIC level team when you consider how strong the rest of schedule is...WCHA, GLI, NMU

We played 'Hurst not that long ago. I think we can do better in terms of non-con teams who will put up a fight, but still lighten the load a bit. Naturally, you run the risk of losing such games, but "them's the breaks".

Now I'm going to look like an ass when we don't beat AIC by at least five goals. :p

Yes.

I sit at the end in my jersey for all the games I get to. Though if the jerseys they are auctioning off stay reasonably priced, I might try for one of those. It would beat the $200 they cost direct from the team.

Good defensive performance and good goaltending by UMD. Not sure what happened in the 3rd but NMU sure made it interesting.

Any NMU fans see their goals in the 3rd?

Happy with a better UMD performance.

I am sad I was never able to make it to the Berry or the Soo during the four years of this thing. Someday I am sure I will make my way there.

The goals were By the same guy and were almost identical, both teams played solid
