I still think people put "fear" too high on the list of criteria. Well, unless you felt fearful in DC last year....
This is the closest hotel by far- http://www.hiltongardeninn.com/en/gi/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=DETDHGI
Not sure if they have any rooms left, now, but it IS an hilton. It's less than 2 blocks from Ford Field..
How's it getting across the border at night at like bar close? Can you take cabs between the Detroit and Windsor? Is Ford Field is pretty close to the casino and bar areas of Windsor?
Where did you get these quotes? My initial on-line inquiry generated considerably higher rates. The historic Dearborn Inn, now a Marriott property, is reporting a pre-pay rate of $90 per night and a leisure rate of $129. It's pretty much next door to Greenfield Village.

What is the parking situation like near Ford Field
Ford Field is literally out my front door...and I know there are about a hundred people on this board that live in the area, so please, let the questions begin! Detroit has been host to all of sports greatest spectacles over the last decade, and the Frozen Four will be the icing on the cake (pun very much intended).
