Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

OT, UML Basketball plays the regular season finale against Franklin Pierce at 7:30. Should be interesting to see who they match up against for playoffs.
Good win for the Hawks last night, as they clinched the #6 seed in the NE-10. They'll be playing Merrimack on Saturday in the first round of the tournament, at home. That game is at 1, go watch them beat up Merrimack, then head to Beerworks to celebrate the victory from 3:15 to 4:30, then start the pre-game for the hockey game at 4:30... ;)

Lowell had been picked 9th in the pre-season poll, and had lost a LOT of good talent that they'd hoped would be playing at Lowell this year (transfers, lost recruits, etc).

Hmm... that sounds familiar ;) :p :(

Lowell vs. Merrimack at Costello. Should be another classic. The semifinal game at Volpe last year was an incredible atmosphere with a narrow Lowell win and the NCAA regional game was a tough one for Lowell still but fun to see. Hopefully the turnout is good, this is a talented (and young!) team that's worth watching.

Here's hoping hockey can end on a positive note and at least take the 9th spot. Usually I'd make the trip down to Providence in a heartbeat, but not this year. I'll settle for Saturday's b-ball/hockey doubleheader.

I usually go down to Providence too but I'm not sure about tomorrow. Should we expect more than 5-10 Lowell fans tomorrow night?

I was hoping to make the trip to PC tomorrow night but I'm hearing the weather could be an issue.

I do hope they have a good turnout at the Tsongas Saturday for the last home game. The attendance has been one of the bright spots this season. The university has done a great job getting people to the games. Hopefully there's a good crowd to honor the seniors for all their hard work on and off the ice.

Edit: Providence preview with interviews with the seniors from the UML site.

It's hard to believe the Women's Softball team opens up their season tomorrow in Florida. The team was picked to finish sixth in the Northeast-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll. The roster includes four members of the NCAA Championship Field Hockey team.

Softball team down 5-1 in the fourth inning.

Quick poll for tonight?

Will we score?

Yes

If so, how many?

3

Will we win

No, 4-3 OT

PS: If you are going, the sooner you get out of Dodge the better. Going to become tasty as the rain/snow line moves SE for the afternoon rush.

Providence has something to play for. UML doesn't. Even if UML can put up more than 1 goal tonight, PC will not let 2 points slip from their hands on home ice.

Sadly I'm not heading down to Providence tonight. I still can't drive that far with my back issues. This will be the 2nd game I've missed this season. :( I know Matt isn't heading down there either so no one is taking pictures tonight.

I see 1 goal tonight as the Lowell offense has been horrid. The Lowell PP is absolutley terrible. How many SH goals have they given up this season? Is it 7 or 8? Either way I will be at Tsongas tomorrow for Senior Night.
