Anyone making the trip up to Durham? I'm leaving soon to beat the traffic.

Good luck! Not making the trip tonight, I'll have to keep tabs online, but I'll be at NU tomorrow. A slightly more winnable game.. :D

Wow another month, that's tough.

I'm thinking of heading up to UNH....last minute decision. Does it suppose to snow tonight?
I think the snow will begin falling sometime tonight. I'm staying up there so I hopefully the roads are clean in the morning.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

Anyone else getting a really choppy radio feed so far? The pregame just started and for some reason, it's cutting out for 2 or 3 seconds every 10 seconds or so. Would much rather listen to the UML broadcast than the UNH one. Hopefully it's just my crappy internet and not the feed.

From what I've heard from a friend at the game, you might not want to not listen anymore anyway.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

Well, hockey is back...don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

I will be listening on the radio this evening. This is more of a game to see how we perform rather than a results game, as I think it will be 4-1, 5-2 UNH. The results better comes tomorrow night and next week otherwise the trip to Vermont will be the last hockey series of the year for this group.

Although UML Theory #467 does come into play here. It states that when everyone writes them off after a long layoff, they make the game "competative"

Came in at the very end. At least Bob isn't completely writing off the effort.

Actually I thought it was a very good effort by the Hawks. They worked hard all night long. They did a nice job getting shots on net tonight. When was the last time they had 31 shots in a game? Massie played well, he had no chance on the first three UNH goals. The fourth one I'm sure he would like to have back.

The next 3 games are huge if they have any hope of making the playoffs.

Speaking of WUML, I was surprised I was able to pick it up loud and clear in Durham tonight. It was nice to listen to the post game show on the way home.

Interesting....had I known I would have listened while sitting in traffic to get out of the **** parking lot.

Not a bad first game back, especially for a goalie's first start. UNH already had a whole terrible game to get rid of the cobwebs, looks like Lowell took about a period and a half or so to get into form. Now it's time to get some points. The post game comments can't be, "we played well the whole game except for that period" or "if we had played better for that five minutes, then we would have won the game". Like the quote above, the next three games are huge if this team wants to have any chance of being competitive. Nice to pick up a PPG. Hopefully the two GA on the PK are more a function of playing against a great team and less of a good PK that's beginning to slip.

Couldn't get a consistent WUML internet feed so had to listen to the UNH feed. I was surprised that their radio guys were very balanced in their calling of the game; not homers at all. Hopefully the feed is better for tonight's game (and maybe some points;)) at Matthews.

WUML (91.5) is on a common college wavelength (for instance UConn broadcasts on 91.7)... I remember being able to pick it up in Fitchburg without a problem until Fitchburg State moved their frequency to 91.3 or 91.7 or something... maybe some college in between durham and lowell stopped operating?

It may have been the UNH station which broadcasts on 91.3. They normally broadcast the hockey games. Maybe they signed off right after the game.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

Heading up to NU in a couple hours, finally get to put my new blue jersey to use. I heard Blaise say something about Carr being injured this past week, anyone know what happened there? I was cautiously optimistic about this game but have a lot of concerns with Massie in net, having flashbacks to his meltdown against BU a few years ago..

That said, a 5-2 loss to the #4 team in the country ain't that bad.. Very glad to see Lowell outshot them too.

I heard he tweaked his groin in practice. I'm not sure how long he will be out. I thought Massie played well last night. The Hawks need to stay out of the box, NU scored three PP goals against Amherst last night.

There had been hope Carr would play tonight, but I have no idea if that's going to happen.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

I've heard Massie will start tonight, not sure about Butler. And Campbell might be another month. :(

I heard that Campbell has a hip injury, those typically take a long time to heal so I hope he is healling well and does get some games in before the season is over. It would be a disappointing end to his college hockey career if he didn't make it back.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

I couldn't make it to NU tonight. For the folks that made the trip, how did the team look? Looking at the boxscore, giving up the GW goal only 18 seconds into the 3rd is tough.
