2010-2011 NHL Season Part II - Concussions Are Serious Business, Savvy?

Re: 2010-2011 NHL Season Part II - Concussions Are Serious Business, Savvy?

I just skimmed his stats on theahl.com, and he was always listed as a defenseman for Norfolk and Rockford (well, of the dozen games I checked). So I think it was a change made during his final two seasons with the Blackhawks.

The NHL.com stats are a pain in the * to search through, but the two games I checked listed Byfuglien as a D man. But the 'Hawks dressed 7 D. I presume that Buff needed work on his D or skating, so they moved him up (ala John Scott) and it worked out pretty well for him.

I don't know much about him other than I liked what he did for the Hawks as a forward, and knew the Thrashers needed someone like that. Then Dudley goes and says that Byfuglien is a D-man in ATL. And now he's been a defensive liability, but they refuse to remove him from the blueline.

I know the qualifications for Yahoo Hockey are screwy, but IIRC, Byfuglien was listed as D/F for the last couple years. I dunno if that was simply based on games played, or actual roster designation, or both, but that's how I remember it.

Could we get Roger Goodell to come over, punish the hell out of Matt Cooke for being a repeatx20 offender and then send him back to farking up the NFL?

As a Pens fan, I will readily admit that Cooke should have held up on the play (he had enough time to stop), but I'm so sick and tired of players playing a puck along the boards, seeing a player coming at them and turning towards the boards to draw a penalty.

B's Canadiens tonight. Big game for both teams. Bruins have yet to beat Montreal this year. I'm trying to find someone to go to the game with...there's a great deal for Club Seats on eBay.

I don't like that either, but it doesn't explain Cooke being nearly a foot off the ice.

I'll go! :)

Also, has anyone seen Gaborik lately? The Rangers could use him in some of these games.

He's still playing? I thought he had retired! I can't remember seeing him on the ice in weeks.

4 games for Cooke. Same suspension the Bruins Paille received. Fair? Discuss.

It's gotten really bad at the college level. Everyone's doing it to try and draw the boarding or "checking from behind" penalty.

Good God, could you CCHA'ers imagine if the NHL had that rule? One player every night would be kicked out for a game!

Burke pulls the trigger.

Leafs general manager Brian Burke didn’t wait until the trade deadline to get busy.

The team announced this morning that defenceman Francois Beauchemin has been dealt to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Joffrey Lupul, defenceman Jake Gardiner and a conditional Ducks fourth-round pick in 2012.

Not just this year, but I believe 8 of the last 9 times, yes?

Anyhow, enjoy the game. I think your streak will hit 6 tonight.

Hopefully we'll be able to hear Chara being booed on his own ice tonight like usual when Montreal plays in Boston.

Montreal surprises me by having quite the road following of fans. The Florida Panthers held a promotion last month for Habs fans to travel to Florida to watch their team, and listening on XM, it sounded like it was a home game for the Habs.

Still better than Tim Army.

... and you'll see nothing but confused looks as usual.

How will the Bruins lose tonight, that's the real question?

In 2008-2009 the B's were 5-0-1 against the Canadiens. Including the playoffs that year, they won 9 straight against the Habs.

Yes, they were 1-5 last year, and 0-2-1 this year.

Baw, you're playing with numbers. The year the Bruins had their way was the most odious of Canadiens' seasons in 20 years. They blew it up that summer. I prefer these numbers - Montreal has beaten Boston 20 of the the last 26 regular season meetings.

And you don't really want to talk head to head playoff records, do you??

I'm going to go with a Michael Ryder turnover. Michael Ryder has played 15 games agianst the team that drafted him, and is goalless in those games.

Tonight's goalies, and their respective records against their opponent:

Carey Price, 12-2-2
Tim Thomas, 8-14-4

When it rains in Ranger land, it pours. Drury out 6 weeks due to knee surgery.

Re: 2010-2011 NHL Season Part II - Concussions Are Serious Business, Savvy?

despite the head to head this year, a playoff matchup between the two clubs would be closer than this lopsided win ratio is. Montreal wasn't particularly good in 2009, and Boston in 2010. Not really sure comparing the clubs from 5+ years ago considering none of the players were even on the team back than. Bergeron was the only player on the team which boston choked up 3-1 back in 2004.
